False alarm: Rothstein tweet about Cal (the school) scares BBN

College basketball reporter Jon Rothstein gave his Kentucky followers a mild heart attack Tuesday afternoon when he tweeted, “Cal is pausing team workouts for up to two weeks after a team member tested positive for COVID-19, per release.”

A Kentucky fan’s brain naturally thinks John Calipari when they see the word Cal, but in this case it is the University of California, Berkeley’s basketball program… not Coach Cal.

Second-year head coach Mark Fox (yes, that Mark Fox) and his Cal Bears began practice this week for the first time in seven months. Now they’ll wait another two weeks ahead of the November 25 start date for the college basketball season. Not ideal.

And be a little more careful with BBN on Twitter, Rothstein.
