Kentucky is trending for Creighton basketball transfer Davion Mintz.

This afternoon, recruiting expert Evan Daniels, along with Chad Lykins of The Devils Den, each submitted Crystal Ball picks in favor of Kentucky for the 6-foot-3 graduate transfer.

Mintz, who was originally a three-star prospect in the class of 2016, signed with Creighton out of high school over offers from Kansas State, Marshall, and Bucknell, among others.

During the 2018-19 season, Mintz averaged 9.7 points on 42% shooting and 35% from three to go with 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Bluejays. After suffering a high ankle sprain late in the preseason last year, the 6-foot-3 guard opted to redshirt the entire 2019-20 season to preserve his final year of eligibility.

Last week, Mintz announced he would be leaving the program and exploring his transfer options.

“I wish my teammates and coaches nothing but the best moving forward,” Mintz said via Twitter. “I’m not sure what the future holds, but my family and I look forward to seeing what God has planned for me next.”

This news probably means that IQ is going to the Association.

      Most likely.

We need the players and experience. Sign him and Haarms up if you can get them.

That is under the assumption everyone but Brooks and Allen are gone.

ESPN has him ranked the number 33 grad transfer. Not great. But he will be very good for depth. I assume he won’t be a starter.

Depth. Still need a couple more guys. Would love to get even one of Nick, Quick and EJ back.

Good size and athleticism, highlights look a lot more like a Cal pg than I expected. I like him. Assuming IQ leaves pg is an even bigger need than center imo.

Looks more and more like we’ll be playing small ball; without Nick, rebounds will be hard to come by.

Mintz looks like a serviceable player, but certainly not a difference maker. With 94% of our offense likely gone, we will need role players like him who can come off the bench and give us some decent minutes.

We need a starting quality pg. Askew is going to be a good player, but he’s definitely going to need time to adjust. Scoring points is not going to be a problem next year.

Looks like his defense is really good, but offense needs work. The defense sounds like something that Cal would like from an experienced guard.

Program where he would not start his final year?

About a week ago it was going to be
a kid named Hardy out of UNLV. His younger Brother is a mega talent the Cats supposedly are far in the lead on. Guess they are afraid he might not be happy and cause the younger brother to back off ??

      Yes

No. Hardy wanted to stay out West to finish his career, it also wasn’t the right fit for what he wanted. He wants to start at point and play 30 min a game and I’m not saying he wouldn’t be able to do that next year especially if quickley leaves but you know Cal never promises anything to anyone. Doesn’t really have anything to do with his brother tbh

I have read all of that but your post and mine are interlinked because it has been rumored that the staff was concerned that a failed quest for 30 minutes a game might cause Amauri to be less than happy at UK and effect his mega talented combo guard brother, Jadens, decision for 2021.
