ESPN’s new Bracketology is a nightmare for Kentucky

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updated his projected NCAA tournament bracket today and he has Kentucky as the No. 5 seed in a Region of Death.

Down one spot from a No. 4 seed a week ago, the Wildcats are in the West Region with Duke as the No. 1 seed. Kentucky would get New Mexico State in the opening game; then would have to get past Arizona to reach the second weekend, where Texas/Texas A&M or Duke would be the Sweet 16 opponent.

If Kentucky reached the Elite Eight, it would likely see Trae Young and Oklahoma for a shot in the Final Four.

Throw this thing away right now.

See the entire bracket here.

Zero interest in Lunardi until late Feb/early March. Why does he even put these things out until then?

Because a lot of people read it…

Why does he put them out at all? He doesn’t even have control over them lol

Because people like to know where they stand. Chill out bro. You clearly care or else you wouldn’t have clicked on the article.

They put them out there because people read it. Clicks on the article means dollars in Lunardi and the company’s pocket. If it wasn’t drawing clicks, they wouldn’t do it. Pretty simple economic stuff.

Wow. What a joke this bracket would be. Duke because we hate Duke. Oklahoma because of Trae Young of course. Texas because of Mo Bamba of course. Also Xavier, TCU, Arizona, Arizona State, A&M, and Notre Dame because why not. And we have to go to San Diego!?

If this happens, this is further proof that the NCAA just hates us.

We all know Duke will NEVER get put in the same bracket with us.

And Duke will never get that tough of a bracket.

We are lucky to be a 5 seed. Need to get this ship together. GO CATS!

Precisely. He might as well put the Cleveland Cavaliers & Boston Celtics in the bracket. They’re as likely to be there as he’s likely to be right.

No way this happens!! When was the last you saw Duke in the same side of the bracket with anyone they believe can beat them!? Lol no doubt we will be in a hard bracket, but not Duke’s. We’ll have NC, Okl, MSU, Wichita St, Kansas, and probably VA on our side lol!!

With how bad Kentucky is if they were to receive a 5 seed at the end of the year it would be a travesty to college basketball. I don’t know how he put them higher than a 7 seed at this point.

Name 24 teams that are better.

Yeah we’re really bad. We’ve lost 4 games. Look at the top 25 and see how many teams have lost 4 games. Include last night’s games

    • BlueHeaven
      4:17 pm January 18, 2018 Permalink

Everyone ranked above them in the polls plus after they lose at Auburn, Arkansas, Florida and Texas A&M any teams ranked above them because they won’t be in the top 25

We will beat Florida. Arkansas on the road will be tough but in case you missed it they’ve been awful lately. 2-4 in the SEC. We will be the best team in the SEC again once we’re healthy.

      5:47 pm January 18, 2018 Permalink

We are still the clear favorite after Auburn and Tennessee lost last night. Beat Florida this weekend and we are in great shape. There aren’t any great teams this year outside of maybe Villanova. Duke, Oklahoma, Arizona , Purdue all have worse losses than UK.

Xavier is better than Oklahoma at this point. OU doesn’t have much beyond Young and I don’t see him Shabazz Napiering his way to the final four

    • Eazy
      5:49 pm January 18, 2018 Permalink

Yep. Oklahoma is overrated just like the big 12. Arkansas is one of the worst teams in the SEC right now and they handled OU. And Texas A&M smoked West Virginia.

Why is Duke a one seed? On second thought I know the answer to that.

    • ClutchCargo
      2:32 pm January 18, 2018 Permalink

Because Duke. The committee starts there and then just fills out the rest of the bracket, being careful to put all the good teams in the other regions.

This years team will be pretty good by march. Probably a 4 or 5 seed, but the Sweet 16 is as far as i see them going.

    Next year….LOOKOUT!

Duke wouldn’t make it past the 2nd round. Healthy A&M team would beat them…just like South Carolina last year.

That’s not a nightmare In the least!! This team is just getting its pieces together, I believe if I’m an opposing coach on our side seeing us there would make me cringe …. we have a legit shot to make some serious waves

Only a prediction. Our team needs to string some wins together so Lunardi can put out his updated version in a free weeks with our Cats moving up.

Dosent mount to a heal/hill of beans at this point. Region dosent matter now, just need to try and crawl back up to a 3 perhaps, but let’s say for Chit and giggles we play and come out of that scenario, there wouldn’t be many toug, high profile teams left to play.Make the FF and it’s Michigan State vs.Kentucky for all the marbles….I STILL like my team….Late…
