Former UK great Ed Davender passed away late Thursday night at UK Hospital after suffering a massive heart attack a few days prior. Davender played for UK from 1984-1988 and was the only player in UK basketball history with more than 1,500 points and 400 assists. Many consider him the most underrated player in the program’s history.
According to the Herald-Leader, Davender’s funeral will take place Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bracktown in Lexington. Jerry Tipton is reporting that Davender’s teammates Rex Chapman and Kenny Walker will speak at the service, which will be preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Donations to the Ed Davender Memorial Fund are currently being accepted at all Central Bank locations.
