Duke No. 1, Kentucky No. 2 in The Sporting News Top 25

There is a new preseason top 25 out for college basketball and it comes from The Sporting News, which puts an emphasis on how good each team will be in March and April when ranking its teams, rather than the present.
This year, the website gave Duke its No. 1 overall ranking, saying there is “almost an embarrassment of riches in Durham.”

No. 2 Kentucky
Need to know: Stop us if you’ve heard one before: Kentucky enters the season relatively short on college experience but long on talent.
The talent influx is elite, even by UK standards – Malik Monk, De’Aaron Fox, Bam Adebayo, Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones are all top-25 recruits. Isaiah Briscoe and Derek Willis, who combined to average more than 17 points per game, head the group of returning players. [The Sporting News]
Kansas, Villanova and Oregon round out the top five, while the Cats have ranked opponents in North Carolina (7), Michigan State (11), Louisville (12) and UCLA (17), along with the third-ranked Jayhawks.
