Dontaie Allen to be honored at tomorrow's game

Dontaie Allen still isn’t ready to step on the Rupp Arena floor for real game action, but tomorrow he will step on the Rupp Arena floor to be celebrated.
Shortly before UK tips off with Georgia Tech, Allen will take centerstage as he is presented with his ring for winning Kentucky’s 2019 Mr. Basketball award. The ceremony will take place 10-15 minutes before tip, tentatively scheduled for the 12:30 mark on the countdown clock, we are told.
Allen was named Mr. Basketball after a record-setting career at Pendleton County. He finished his high school career with 3,255 points, which ranks 11th all-time in state history, despite missing the majority of his senior season with an injury. He averaged 42.9 points (I swear) and 14.2 rebounds per game as a senior until he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on December 22.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s festivities and what it means to be UK’s , Allen said, “It felt great because I worked for it my whole life. To be able to finally receive it on the Rupp floor tomorrow at the game is going to be a blessing.”
If you’ve made it this far, I assume you’re also interested in Allen’s return from the aforementioned injury. He talks about that and more in his interview with KSR prior to Friday’s practice in the Joe Craft Center.
