Some unfortunate news from John Calipari’s press conference to pass along: Dominique Hawkins still hasn’t returned to practice. Hawkins sprained his ankle in the Ole Miss game and wore a boot on the sidelines at LSU.

Everyone’s asking when we’ll see Tai Wynyard play, and Calipari had this update to pass along.

“He’s gotta get in better shape,” Cal said. “He just joined us. But he’s got a great temperament, he’s got a great mentality about it. If he ran up and down the court three or four times, he’d probably be exhausted, but that’s okay, we have some other guys who look the same way and they’ve been here a while.” [Cue Calipari grin]

Regardless, Calipari said if the situation’s right in Tuscaloosa, he’ll play Tai.

“I may stick him in tomorrow, I may not. Just how the game goes.”

In my opinion, that’ll only happen if it’s a blowout.

If UK basketball players are winded after running up and down the court several times something is terribly wrong with their conditioning program.Maybe that’s why they have such a difficult time playing two games in three/four days.

Wynyard just got here a couple weeks ago, and is still adjusting from high school to college. He didn’t go through the summer conditioning program.
