Do yourself a favor and read Dominique Hawkins’ goodbye letter to the BBN

KSR-9181

A few weeks back, Derek Willis teamed up with Kyle Tucker to pen a goodbye letter to Kentucky fans, and now, Dominique Hawkins has done the same. With Kyle’s help, Hawkins wrote a letter to the Big Blue Nation explaining how much it meant to him to not only play for his home state, but the team he grew up cheering for. It includes lots of heartfelt messages to fans, like this:

You are the reason I loved diving for loose balls and making the kind of hustle plays that help win games, because you’re the smartest fans in the country and you go crazy for the little things. If it seemed like I never ran out of gas, it’s because you were my fuel.

More good stuff where that came from over at SEC Country, so give it a read. Then go see Dom and Derek at the next stops of their #KYBoysTour:

There are a lot of bandwagon fans, at least donjohnson can admit he’s one of them. The wagon was empty most of the basketball season and then filled up again after we beat Wichita State in the tourney.

Why can’t Dom be a 17 year player for us like Perry Ellis was for Kansas? Its just not fair…

Thanks Dom. I am seventy years old and a Wildcat fan since birth and you are one of my favorite Wildcats of all time. Best of luck to you and thanks again.

That kid is special. He’s been one of my favorites since I met his mom, who was super-nice and friendly, at the 2014 Final Four his freshman year in Dallas. He may have just moved to the number 1 spot in my heart. What a great guy.

Dom worked with our small group at the Coach Cal Father/Son camp a couple years ago. No doubt one of the best people in the history of people.
