Diallo, Adebayo Out of the First Round in the Latest Mock Draft by Draft Express

The latest round of NBA Mock Drafts have been released just ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.  Jonathan Givony of Draft Express has two important omissions, Bam Adebayo and Hamidou Diallo.  De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk remain in the Top Ten.

5. De’Aaron Fox — Sacramento Kings
6. Malik Monk — Orlando Magic

Adebayo’s absence is not surprising.  Most mock drafts project him around No. 20, but Givony has always been the exception, categorizing Bam as a fringe first rounder at No. 32 overall.  Diallo is in similar territory near the top of the second round.  The team that should concern Kentucky fans the most, the Brooklyn Nets, have first round selections at No. 22 and No. 27.  Givony believes they’ll opt for a pair of international players, Zalgiris Kaunas and Anzejs Pasecniks, instead of Diallo.

In Chad Ford’s latest Big Board, Diallo has cracked the first round at No. 27.

5. De’Aaron Fox — Sacramento Kings
7. Malik Monk — Minnesota Timberwolves
23. Bam Adebayo — Toronto Raptors
27. Hamidou Diallo — Brookyln Nets

Ford has bought into the hype following Diallo’s impressive NBA Combine, but do NBA teams believe the hype?  We’ll find out in the next 24 hours.

Seems like these projections never give enough weight to foreign players getting drafted in the first round. This ends up bumping everyone down a few notches.

Sure cal still tells him to go. And I love cal but sometimes the best decision is to come back.

The team that diallo should fear the most is also the Nets. They’re a train wreck and his first 4-5 years will be wasted there, he’ll get little to no develipment, but a lot of playing time. But hey, he’s getting paid right?

Draft Express has had them both lower than most other listings from the get-go.

With foreign players, it’s usually a matter of if the team is just going to stash them, because the ones who are going to come and play are usually known by the draft experts. So is Brooklyn gonna stash a couple draft picks and aim to add better talent to their roster next year? If not, seems like Diallo would be in play to them. If people actually think he can be drafted much higher next year, like lottery pick, why wouldn’t the Nets take him and let him develop in the D-League for a year?

Problem is that if they take him first round than he’s guaranteed that NBA money, which is a lot more than the casual D-league players. So it would be if they think he’s worthy of being paid a decent chunk while not really contributing now or wait and try and get him after a year without paying him. I say since he’s taken this long that he’s coming back, I feel like teams would’ve already told him if they wanted him by now, especially the nets who have two first round picks.

Oh my goodness, being a late-first rounder for the Nets is the worst thing that could happen to anyone.
