Devin Booker shines in Kentucky’s win

Devin Booker, you’re tonight’s MVP.

The freshman guard set career highs with 15 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the win. He was the star in the second half that pushed Kentucky to pull away from a Boston team that wouldn’t die. Back-to-back jumpers stand out and, of course, the four or five lobs to backdoor cutters for dunks.

After the game, Cal said, “Devin had seven assists, a bunch were in the zone where we’re throwing that lob. And when he makes shots, we become a little bit different.”

Shooting wasn’t a problem for Booker tonight, something that can’t be said of his last couple times out. He said Cal told him to keep firing and they knew it would eventually turn around.

Great game from Booker. (It’s almost like someone predicted it on the KSR pregame show.)

I think this will be the pattern all year. Different players will step up. That is why it is going to be so hard to beat this team. Drew, it looks like you and I were on the same page. Many of us felt it was just a matter of time before Booker stepped up. I also thought it might be his night. The strength of this team is that there is not one player that they will depend upon to win. So teams will not be able to focus on a single player. Teams will wear down trying to hold them all in check.

Great pick for MVP! Booker was especially good in the 2nd half.

We are definitely a different and much better team when Booker is hitting his 3s…
