Former Kentucky Basketball players Derek Anderson and Bam Adebayo were both honored earlier this month as Champions of Philosophy.

Anderson was named the 2019 Most Valuable Philanthropist. In a release, the former Cat described, “how his parents’ abandoning him as a child led him down the path of giving back. He specifically noted that “common courtesy, people skills, and life training” helped him survive his youth, and he urged that these three principles return to our school systems.”

In addition to Anderson, Bam Adebayo was honored as the 2019 Rising Star in Philanthropy. While the current Miami Heat forward admitted he didn’t have the same upbringing that Anderson did, he mentioned that his main goal is to help kids who were raised by a single mother, like him.

Adebayo said, “I do the work I do for the kids, and it brings joy into my heart.”

Not that we needed any more proof that Kentucky players are the cream of the crop when it comes to life outside of basketball, but this only just further does so.

Champion of Philosophy sounds like an award at Indiana. I think you meant Champion of Philanthropy. A Philampion, if you will.
