Tyler Ulis’ big day drew some pretty high praise from his head coach, who compared the freshman guard to two other Chicago kids he’s coached: Anthony Davis and Derrick Rose. “I’ve had three Chicago kids do what Tyler Ulis did today,” Coach Cal said in his postgame press conference. “Change the game.”
Ulis’ stifling defense sparked the run that would carry Kentucky to victory. He had three steals, forced a five-second call, and had a block — yes, a block.
Providence head coach Ed Cooley said, “I thought the biggest key today was Ulis. He was very disruptive with his ball pressure and we couldn’t get in a flow.”
“He’s got the ‘it,'” Cooley continued. “He’s a player who has the ultimate it.'”
