Chris Mack “can’t wait” for first UK/Louisville game

Chris Mack was just introduced as Louisville’s new head coach and, inevitably, asked his thoughts on the Kentucky/Louisville rivalry. How ready is he for one of the most heated rivalries in all of sports?

“I can’t wait,” Mack said. “There’s something about those type of games that get your juices flowing.”

Hilariously, Mack already ruffled some Louisville fans’ feathers when he arrived at the Yum Center in a blue shirt. Oh, the horror!

Cards fans were so upset someone photoshopped the shirt red:

All in all, Mack came off as an incredibly likable dude, which could make the post-Pitino era of the rivalry a little awkward for this here website. So far, the only thing I can make fun of Mack for is that he seems to be a massive Kid Rock fan, but who doesn’t enjoy a little “Bawitdaba” on occasion?

Alas, Mack said he’s looking forward to coaching in the rivalry instead of watching it from his in-laws’ house in Shepherdsville over Christmas break like he has in the past.

“I’m not naive enough to think the UK/Louisville game isn’t one the best in the entire country,” Mack added. “Our season won’t be one game, but you can sure as bet we’ll be ready to go next year at The Yum.”

Same.

Well, don’t fall in love with him. When he played at Evansville, he threw the ball at a Dayton player’s face to avoid a 5 second call on an inbound play.
Said his coach told him to. Maybe, considering the coach, but he’s lucky he hit the right guy.

The cross town shootout fight several years ago was completely antagonized by Xavier players. Macura is a poor mans grayson Allen. Mack recruits and instructs his players to compete with an edge that is unrelated to basketball. It’s annoy.

Much like he looked forward to playing villinova. What was his record in that rivalry? The guys overalkbrecird is mediocre at best. Had it not been for UMBC, he would own the worst upset in this year’s tournament. Xavier never advanced far, and averages 10 losses a year for his career.

He was 1-9 vs Villanova. And that was Xs super bowl. UK is 9-1 in their last 10 vs Louisville and we are Louisville’s super bowl. Not even a rivalry. They are complaining about him wearing a blue shirt?! Laughable how obsessed Louisville fans are with UK. We will continue to own them. Mack is a decent guy, though.

Little brothers are always excited about the prospect of playing ball with their big brother. Then the game comes and the big brother toys with the little brother until they get upset and run to tattle.

Exactly. We will own him just like Villanova did.

He’s “looking forward to the Kentucky game”?

Apparently, when they hired him, they didn’t tell him how bad his team is. They neglected to mention that Ryan McMahon is gonna be his best player. SMH

Yep. Louisville will be lucky to be .500 his first season.

Love him all you want, TT. Switch sides., we’ll survive. Somebody else can take over that cushy new job you just snagged.

The hilarious thing is Xavier is in The yahoo report and it looks like they paid Sumter. Louisville clearly overlooked that. So if UL fans say anything about Bam it will once again prove their ignorance.

I hope he gets the same recruiting welcome that Archie miller got at Indiana. Has Xavier produced NBA talent? Any experience with OAD? What’s his recruiting pitch? Yea, at xavior we win the A10/Big East 3 outta 9 years!!
Oh yes, we’re Louisville, the team that vacated a banner, and will likely get severe penalties in next 2 years!!!

While the teams are not normally as good as UK or Louisville, the Xavier-Cincy rivalry is just as intense, if not more so.

If by intense you mean 2 mediocre teams fist fighting on a basketball court, I agree
