Chad Ford thinks the Twins are considering coming back now, will decide Tuesday or Wednesday

A few days ago, ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford said that the Harrison Twins have been talking to agents about their draft stock but didn’t like the feedback they were getting. Today, he tweets that the feedback is pushing them to consider coming back to UK, with a decision coming on Tuesday or Wednesday:

Scrap money?? The average recent college grad salary is $45k for 12 months. The NBA DL would pay the twins around $25k a piece for the season along with paid housing, benefits and per diem of up to $40 a day. The season last 5 months…so for the amount of time spent “working” the twins would make more money and benefits than your avg. “educated” graduating student…then would have the opportunity to triple that before they are eligible to graduate….so looking rationally at the numbers even the worse case scenerio is better than options most have.

“CATS” is obviously a Louisville fan (read: troll) hoping he can say nonsense like this with the hope it might push them to the NBA. I’d be hoping that too troll, because if the twins come back, you’re a$$es are getting dropped by 30 next year. Bet. And after they smash you everybody else in their way, they’ll leave as lottery picks.

That is a very ridiculous immature and hate filled comment! I hope the twins do what is best for them and their family! You’d be an idiot to think these 6’6″ guards would have any problems making money in the NBA. Are the ready? Who is at that age (very few) c’mon… with hard work and great coaching the sky is the limit. I just want to say thank you for a great season Harrison twins! Thank you for putting up with idiots like that we know it’s difficult to be in the UK light! Just shows the poise and maturity for putting in all the hard work and getting past those hurdles. I for one would wouldn’t be upset if you came back!!!

If they return they can legitimately go from early second round picks (no guaranteed contract although I think they’d both get one) to potential lottery picks. Also, having to deal with Ulis in practice will help them a lot.

If they return the number of different types of lineups will be extremely difficult for any type of defense to stop.

The twins decision is what is going to give me relief or pain. Normally the guys leaving year after year don’t…but this year, I am praying we get them back. Nothing against Dakari or Julius leaving (even Alex to an extent) –they are more than welcome. But please God….give us back the twins!

I completely get what you are saying. I started the year frustrated as hell with them and then they turned into two of my favorites. I would disagree with you on Alex. He is also up there on my list. Some of his rebounds and dunks in the last month of the season were just as key in making the run.

    • KevinM
      4:11 pm April 17, 2014 Permalink

Easy RR; no need to worry about the twins. These things have a way of working themselves out.
I badly wanted Brandon Knight back, and that assisted in us getting Marquis Teague. I like how that ended up.
If I had it my way, all the guys minus Julius would be staying in school. But different kids need to provide for their families and those that stay in school see beyond the NBA dream.
As Cal said, if only 4 left, we’ve got enough resources to return to Indy for the F4.

      4:15 pm April 17, 2014 Permalink

notwitch, yes Alex would be big – I understand

It’s (for me) a bad feeling if we lose Alex because he continues to grow mentally and has the body to rock next year even sharing some time with Lyles. Yes look out!

But that bad feeling in my stomach is replaced by an absolute ulcer if the twins leave. The size, a years experience, our lack of guards…

I can see from both. MJ is probably right that nobody knows, and they are guessing. Ford may have talked to those in discussion with the twins, and was told they weren’t happy with what they heard. So he’s making an educated guess.

  16. UK
    4:13 pm April 17, 2014 Permalink

The thing that would benefit Andrew coming back is that Ulis is exactly the kind of PG he has trouble with. Playing against him every day would help Andrew get better against small, quick guards while Ulis gets better against big and physical guards. Competition in practice breeds better results in the games.

jus sayin: I don’t think that’s entirely true. I think if you’re a lottery pick then you should definitely go, but if you’re mid-late first round with a chance to substantially improve that draft position by coming back then it’s a 50/50 call. For instance, Montrezl Harrell and WCS. I think we can all agree that the Twins need more work, and if they come back and play like they did in the SEC and NCAA Tournament then they will almost certainly be lottery picks next year. Hope to see #2 and #5 back in Lexington for one more Drive for 9. Go Big Blue!

This would be great great great and if D.J., W.C.S. and A.P. all return with the new guys coming in this is the start of an great thing i call changing of the guards. This is where our bench developes talent in 3/4 year players which deepens the team .Young should look at Lamb and do the same it’s possible he could go in the top 5 with one more year at Kentucky .However each an everyone of these kids i thank you for choosing Kentucky and you do whats best for you .Neither myself or anyone has any legal right to mess with your personal life / decessions . I hope they come back, along with Alex and Dakari, but I also hope Cal will be willing to expand his rotation to 9-10 players to give some of the non-starters some playing time. I have to wonder if the fact that he only likes to go about 7 deep will have any impact on anyone’s decision. Hope not. I want us to be deep and talented next year and simply overwhelm the opposition.

The thing is Andrew isn’t a pg and Cal didn’t have anyone to start over him this year. Andrew and Aaron are 2 guards and Ulis will start a the point. Sometimes I wish Cal would not run the dribble drive as much and go with plays that look more at match ups We should have had Andrew and Aaron post up smaller defenders throughout the game or use the pick and row with our athletic bigs Willie and lee. 1 Ulis 2 Aaron 3 Andrew / booker 4 towns 5 Willie

did kyphil just move Andrew Harrison to the small forward position and talk about the pick and row offense in the same comment

Andrew WILL be the starting PG next year. I have seen several comments regarding him moving positions. That’s not happening

I think the coolest lineup versatility wise we have would be Andrew Aaron/booker 2/3 with towns and wcs.

Him playing PG is what makes him so enticing as a draft prospect. He was so good the last month of the season when he was truly paying the point and get others involved. He still got some for himself when needed, but he completely changed his.approach

Also, Concrete campus? are you literally as smart as a damn rock? have you ever even been to Louisville? Louisville is a freaking beautiful lush green park of a campus. try visiting sometime.

Do they have any desire to play together in the NBA? Seems like that would be an interesting thing to analyze. If so, they would probably have a better chance this year if they went early second round to teams like the 76ers who have multiple picks. If they are in the lottery next year, no way they get on the same team. But they surely can bank more money next year in the lottery. Just a different angle on the decision.
