It’s time for everyone to put out their preseason polls now that we have a general idea of what college basketball looks like for next season. With that out of the way, it seems like Kentucky will be the consensus No. 2 team behind Duke as CBS joins in on the party with the Wildcats ranked there. Here’s what Gary Parrish has to say about Kentucky:
Yes, Kentucky lost three underclassmen to the NBA Draft, Alex Poythress to graduation, and Marcus Lee and Charles Matthews via transfer. But the recruiting class is so strong that it’s hard to justify having anybody but Duke ranked ahead of the Wildcats. They could, like the Blue Devils, start a future NBA player at every position. The backcourt of De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk should be awesome.
After Duke and Kentucky, Parrish has Villanova, Kansas and Xavier to round out the top-5. The Wildcats are slated to play the No. 4, 7, 8, 12 and 20th ranked teams this season.
