Cats won, but that was brutal

A win is a win, but man, that was ugly. After trailing at halftime, UK eventually pushed past pesky Columbia to win 56-46. Columbia dealt UK a nasty taste of its own medicine, holding the Cats to 36.7% shooting from the floor.

Willie Cauley-Stein had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Trey Lyles and Derek Willis put in inspired performances.

More coming all night…

The slow start is a bit worrying but the final is misleading. We were missing two players who average about 13 points together. Saturday should be fun.

And they were missing their leading scorer… It isn’t like we played without guards

They weren’t missing their leading scorer. If that’s the case, then so we’re we because randle is in the NBA now.

Yeah saying they were missing their leading scorer is misleading. He’s not on the team this year. It’s not like he was sick or hurt, they’ve been playing all spring, summer, and fall without him. He was never a part of the gameplan, so it’s not like we “lucked out” that he got sick or something.

This team needs to start hitting shots. Especially those with NBA aspirations. With out dunks we are shooting closer to 25% over the past two outings.

Right on Capt! Too much talent to be shooting so poorly…

The game plan by Columbia is the formula to beat the Cats. This team is totally out of it with this kind of play and really has no way to force the action. The lack of energy for UK was so evident in the first half and they as a team looked slow. There is way too much talent on this team to ever play a game like this against a team like that. Chalk this one down as an embarrassment.

We missed the energy of Ulis and Booker…

We won. That’s never embarrassing. Lock it up.

I fail to understand why a 10 point win is an embarrassment, then again, i think you’re a troll pretending to be a cat fan, so…

Missing 2 players is a pretty lame excuse considering they don’t have a single player or coach who ever got anywhere close to UK’s radar. I didn’t really think that there was any way this team would show up this flat. Even after seeing it I doubt we will see it again.

Wish you were right but the odds these games happen again are very high unless we have dependable 3 pt shooting. Right now this is the worst 3 pt. shooting team Cal has ever had.

Like Capt. said above, they definitely need to shoot better. As much as I love Andrew and Aaron, they will both need to be more consistent 3pt shooters to be NBA players.

Worst the defense has looked. Uncontested shots in the lane? No way they come out this flat on Saturday but it would be nice to have Ulis and Booker back.

UK played down to their competition, will not be the same case on Saturday. Lets just move on.

Outside shooting has got to improve, or teams are going to just pack the lane even more. I know Cal said he wants Andrew to shoot more, but he and Aaron seem to always get plenty of shots up. They just aren’t hitting many. I think the platoon system is causing some selfishness.

We know the shooting ability is there. Is this just a team slump? I’ve heard it said that a slumping shooter just has to keep shooting. How do you improve shooting that’s so obviously not there right now, because if we continue this way, it’s gonna bite us.

At this time my confidence that this team wins the next 3 games is very low. Everyone is up for the Cats and when they come out and play with the lack of energy and aggressiveness they showed tonight then several losses will happen. Even the defense sucked for most the night. If I was the opponent I certainly pack in the zone and watch the Cats brick shot after shot. Yes Cats win tonight but this kind of game against the Cards ends in a 20 pt loss.

lol that’s hilarious, 20 point loss to the Tards. Just bc we came out flat last night now all of the sudden we’re going to do the same thing for the next 3 games? That makes zero sense. We’ve played 10 games this year and only a couple of times have looked flat. And ended up winning both of those games by double digits. If this were not UK you would be calling this a trap game bc they were looking forward to the UNC game. But since you like to troll on UK now it’s ‘they’re gonna be flat from here on’. Cats will be up for the big games, perhaps they just had an off night. We don’t need to make 3’s to win, we just have to defend the three better, which we will.

I don’t see anything that would constitute trolling. People giving their opinions about a lackluster performance.

It’s amazing that one flat game can negate all the crazy blowouts we’ve been having this year (against good competition, mind you – Kansas, Texas, etc.) Yes, let’s judge this Cats team on a flat, albeit double-digit, win against Columbia, not the utter dominance in the other 8.5 games. SMGDH

This is why Cal has gray hair and won’t stay here long. But hey, keep “offering your opinions about a lackluster performance”.

Shake your head all you want, if you think Cal would leave over a few people discussing a lackluster performance, then you are not right in the head. Telling people that don’t agree with you that they are trolling is just stupid.
