Calipari will wear custom shoes to honor Bill Keightley tomorrow night

C2zDw7xXAAAk4jh

It’s hard to believe, but we’re coming up on the ninth anniversary of Bill Keightley’s death, and tomorrow night, John Calipari and the UK Basketball staff will wear custom sneakers in Mr. Wildcat’s honor. Once again, Calipari is partnering with the American Cancer Society for Coaches vs. Cancer Week, and this year, True Blue Customs made Calipari and the UK staff custom kicks with the nod to the longtime equipment manager.

You can see the black version above, but there’s also a white version:

Very, very cool.

Those look like orthopedic shoes worn by nurses or cafeteria workers.

I believe they are low top Nike Air Force 1 basketball shoes, originally sold in the 80’s.

Good to know, but doesn’t make them any less unattractive.

I was at Mr Keightley’s celebration of life in Rupp Arena, and the most powerful eulogy that day was by Coach Pitino. Rick loved him like a son loves a father, and nothing will ever convince me that Rick deserves anything but appreciation from the BBN. Forget Rick’s other jobs and his imperfections. Loving Bill Keighley makes him one of us.
