John Calipari was a little late getting to Tent City this year because guess what, he was busy recruiting. After seeing Tyler Ulis’ old coach in California, he was still excited to talk about his team.
“This team, it’s gonna be a process. We’re not gonna be a finished product the first week of the season, and the first month of the season, in the first two months of the season. But we have a chance with this group because what they are who they are, how they play and what they’re about. We got a chance to be special again and I’m anxious to get going.”
Alex Poythress is back to full contact drills, and Cal said he’s about 65-70% healthy. It’s just in time for workouts to begin. They’ll do some work tomorrow, before going hard Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Cal was informative, but Marcus Lee was hilarious. The upperclassman was quick to joke on the new guys, forgetting Skal’s name and simply referring to Mychal Mulder and Jamal Murray as the Canadians because, “they all look alike.”
