Calipari: “They beat our brains in”

Coach Cal called it like he saw it in his postgame comments.

They beat our brains in,” he said of UCLA’s 87-77 win over his previously unbeaten Wildcats.

“We are what we are. We weren’t very good today.”

Of course, Cal couldn’t move on without reminding everyone this was UCLA’s Super Bowl. He expected to the Bruins to play out of their minds tonight, just as every team does when it gets a shot at Kentucky.

UCLA’s Thomas Welsh and his 21 points and 11 rebounds are pretty good example of getting up for the Kentucky game.

“That’s just how it is,” said Cal.

I expected them to lose some of the non-conference games…like to Duke or Kansas but certainly not to UCLA. The team that lost at home to that “national power” Monmouth.

Team thought they could just mail it in and win. They found out differently tonight…the hard way.

Good maybe they’ll learn a lesson, especially when we actually play a real road game.

Look for them to drop to #5 in the polls next week.

Hope Lee doesn’t miss a lot of time. Head injuries (concussions) can be very tricky things.
