Calipari texted Stoops after last night’s loss

Mark Stoops received a late-night text message from John Calipari last night, shortly after his football team lost to Georgia on a field goal at the end of regulation. According to Calipari, he told Stoops, “Losing stinks, but having no hope is worse… Because of you, now we have hope.”
Nice gesture there by Coach Cal to reach out to his fellow Wildcat head coach at what was certainly a disappointing time for Stoops. He’s right in there being hope in the football program, and there’s no better person to get some coaching love from than a Hall of Famer, even if not in the same sport.
I’ll tell you who didn’t have hope this weekend and that’s the Asbury Eagles. No hope whatsoever on that sideline, but Asbury’s head coach said he and his team had fun and they are proud of how they hustled against a much more talented team. More from that game to come…

Mark,
Losing sucks. I don’t do it much. You seem to be the expert, tell me what it is like to win half your games, or less every year, get paid millions, and not have to worry about not making the very bottom end of the post season 75% of the time. I got to say, If I did that, my second year would have been my last, rotflol!!!!:) What is your secret? Blame everything on the players lack of urgency?
You give me hope, that one day, I too, will be afforded the same opportunity, because before you, there was none.:) 🙂
Until the battle is won,
JC
