Calipari talks Briscoe, veterans, and his son’s playing time to SEC Now

John Calipari stopped by SEC Now to chat SEC basketball and its schedule with Texas A&M’s Billy Kennedy and the show’s host.
You can find the video of Cal’s comments below, but I’ll leave you with a brief wrap-up in case you’re too busy to watch the five-minute clip.
— He asked Isaiah Briscoe to be a leader and Briscoe is doing a “fabulous” job, although the sophomore guard has been out a couple weeks with a toe injury.
— With Dominique Hawkins, Derek Willis and Mychal Mulder providing senior leadership, he thinks it is the most veteran team he has had in a long time. “But we’ve got some good freshman,” he added.
— His wife Ellen is demanding he plays their son, Brad Calipari.
— His final comment to Kennedy? “We don’t want any late game technicals” against A&M. The two coaches had a nice little back-and-forth to close out the show.

“Mychal Mrglgrllgr is coming back too, he’ll be a senior”
Sad to see coach Kennedy is such bad shape. Obvious that his Parkinson’s disease is taking a toll on him.
Yes it is sad to see Coach Kennedy battling his Parkinson’s. I wish him the best and he is on my prayer list. I also thought it was nice of Cal to be so supportive of the SEC when they have declared his program irrelevant and independent of the SEC
“Ellen is demanding he plays their son”
Well every mother of every player in the NCAA field is also demanding that the coach play her son…
