After saying he felt like George Clooney when he stepped inside his house following the first exhibition game, in which his son played nine minutes and scored six points, John Calipari got down to business with talk of his rotation and potential starting five for Exhibition No. 2.
He told reporters, “We’re still trying to figure out combinations. I’ll do the same thing I did last game, play a lot of combinations. I don’t know if I’ll start three guards — I might start three guards this time and then figure out some sort of rotation of how we want to do this.”
Cal also said he has been very direct and straightforward with his players, telling them when they move in front of or behind another player in the position battles.
As for what the team will do early on, the Cats will be limited with its “packages” during the first two weeks of the season, he suspects.
“Limited baseline, limited sideline, limited what we’ll do versus zone, limited man offense. We’re just trying to get good at some things right now.”
