Calipari signed his one-year extension

Last week we learned John Calipari and the University of Kentucky agreed to another year on his current contract, and we’ve been waiting patiently for his pen to hit the signature line. Turns out, Calipari signed that deal a week ago, making his one-year extension official.

The new contract has him as UK’s head coach through 2022. He will make $8 million in that additional season.

Have a look at the terms…

That’s $54 million guaranteed, for those of you keeping score at home.

jman3715>>sounds like a good idea plus maybe a deduct if CATS get into final 4 and do not win it all. He would be 1 up and 2 down in almost guaranteed to win with talent he had.

A DEDUCT for a Final Four appearance!? You can’t possibly be serious! You want to deduct for our ONE loss? Unbelievable.

I know Drew said a guaranteed 54M but only if he stays.

I’m thinking it will climb to 70-75M before its over.

Incredible that one coach can develop so many others with money for life is indeed an achievement.
