Calipari says there’s no room for Indiana on Kentucky’s schedule

A few months ago, Archie Miller claimed talks of renewing the Kentucky/Indiana series were ‘on the table,’ but yet again, John Calipari says that is not the case.

In an interview with WHAS11, Calipari said that even thought he has a lot of respect for Miller, a longtime friend, Kentucky’s schedule is planned so far in advance that the matter is not worth considering, especially since Indiana shot down his offer to play two neutral site games in Indianapolis several years ago.

One more time for the cheap seats in the back!

Keep dreaming, Hoosiers.

Agreed. We don’t need another cupcake bringing down out S.O.S.

Would fit right in with the home non-conference schedule then.

What do we get out of a series with Indiana? Are we losing recruits to them so playing and beating them would help us? Nah. Are they a strong opponent that would help our resume, win or lose? Nah. Would anyone outside of the two states be excited to see the matchup? Nah. Does anyone care about the matchup for any reason other than nostalgia? Nah.

We already play (and constantly beat) a regional rival in Louisville. No need to throw charity IU’s way.

Gotta leave room for Utah Valley and Mount Saint Mary’s

Agree. Those two help our SOS more than IU.

Most likely the fan bases of those two schools wouldn’t try to physically assault our players or fans.

No reason to give them a platform if you’re recruiting against them.

It used to be a fabulous border-state rivalry back in my younger days. But times have changed. Indiana has dropped in national significance, our schedule has gotten full, and they refused an unbelievably generous offer to play twice in Indy. Plus their fan behavior before and after our last game in Assembly Hall was disgraceful…..I wouldn’t bring my team back to that place for anything.

    Indiana doesn’t exist

Playing them would still be a step up from IPoo

I must say I’m a little surprised at the anti IU talk in response here. I loved when the Cats played IU and would welcome it over all but a couple of the non-conference schedule.

IU is a has been program and provides nothing beneficial to UK. I for one am glad Cal is telling them to pound salt.

So am I. After they rushed the court injuring a cheerleader and got rings for making a sweet 16, they basically became a mid major. Don’t need them.

Tell them to beat U of Smell on a continuous basis, then we’ll talk .

If we’re going to schedule Indiana teams Purdue is way more relevant than IU. And Evansville hired Walter McCarty as their head coach and 2 other assistants have KY ties.

I know we play them this year but I mean a continuous series.

I for one would absolutely love to see us play IU every year. Don’t care where. I live in Indiana and love to brag about my cats, and it would be great to have us beat them down every year. Indy, Bloomington, Lexington, whatever.

Respect your position BleedingBlue, but IU can’t get any further down, no matter how hard they are beaten. No need to attempt the impossible.
