Calipari says the losing streak was the best thing that could happen

Kentucky’s recent four-game losing streak was brutal to watch as fans of the Wildcats; however, John Calipari sees a positive in it, in how it got his team moving in the right direction.

“You got a team full of young players that have to go through experiences — good and bad,” Calipari said in his postgame interview. “You cannot talk about them. They have to experience them.”

“The best thing to happen to this team is losing four in a row. It wasn’t good to me because I’m older now and I don’t take it as well. But they needed that.”

Calipari also reminded us Jarred Vanderbilt is still new to the team, which set them back a bit in their chemistry and development as a group. Cal said he sat them all down last week to identify each player’s new role now that he’s seen his full roster in action, and it has since limited a lot of the confusion.

“The second thing is, we added Jarred. So here we are, a young team trying to experiment and figure out how we’re playing, and Jarred joins us. What ends up happening is, we were discombobulated. So about a week ago I sat everybody down and told them what their role is, especially Jarred. And I told them who we’re playing through and how we’re playing… so now there’s not as much confusion on the court.”

John Cal is a stud. I’m impressed by the way he can coach these god given talent kids!

Yes, coach K is really good at taking the #1 recruiting class and getting beat by South Carolina in the sweet 16. What a coach.

I think coach Gillespie (lieutenant dan) could coach guys like KAT, Wall, AD, etc)

You idiots think it’s that simple? Coach K will have a bubble team next year because these guys come in playing no team ball, no defense, and half lack fundamental bball skills because they overwhelm high school competition with superior physical ability and size. Hard as hell to get things turned around and contend against the best in 4 months. It took you longer to get out of diapers.

By the way, since no one else seems to be getting it right, your dorkies lost to South Carolina in the round of 32 actually. Not the sweet 16. Puke was a 2 seed (an extremely generously gifted 2 seed in fact)…South Carolina was a 7 seed. That’s just being too generous. The Pukies seem to get knocked off in 1st or 2nd round as a #2 seed more than any other school in NCAA history. ?

Bet you are a bubble team next year and get beat in the first maybe second round if you get lucky. Trippy McTrip Face won’t be there to carry your poorly coached under performing team. Your team won’t even be able to spell defense. Gonna be hilarious to watch Coach K get exposed since all the pressure will be on your solid under performers.

All I can remember is the ass whipping USC put on them last year. K had the best talent in the country and it wasn’t even that close and just got pummeled. Remember that game Brad. Did you know that in eight different seasons K didn’t get to or out of the sweet 16? dUKe plays the weakest bracket every year including last year and still got schooled.

I’m impressed with how Cal just rolls the balls out every year and then sits back and let’s his Freshmen try to figure it all out…

Spoken like a guy who weighs 335 and lives in his mom’s basement. Which web site did you copy and paste that original thought from? Why is it all the respected basketball analysts say Cal is a great coach? He’s had some awful coaching games in the last five minutes of close games that matter like Wisconsin, but few coaches could have this team make the tournament. I say Marcus Lee play last night for the 8-19 Cal team, and he has taken 30 steps back without Cal’s coaching. No chance in hell at making the NBA despite all the physical tools.

So cal develops people? Harrison twins? Poythress? James young? Lamb? Skal? Nerlens? Archie? Want me to keep going with people with top tier talent that NEVER got better at Kentucky. NO ONE gets better under cal. They just have god given ability.

Strivefor49. Booker, Ulis, Jorts, Miller, Teague, Willie, Dakari. And since when did Young, Lamb, and Nerlens not get better at UK?

I wouldn’t say K is the best coach in the game. He under performs as much if not more than any other high profile coach.

Let’s get the record straight. Puke got beat down in the round of 32 by South Carolina, not the sweet 16. That’s just being too generous. Duke was a #2 seed (an unbelievably generous 2 seed by the way), and USC was a 7 seed. I’m pretty sure the pukies hold the NCAA record for most losses in the 1st and 2nd rounds as a #2 seed. Mercer, Lehigh, South Carolina……etc. I think even more than Kansas as a #1 seed, and that’s saying something.
