Calipari says he’ll do a back flip if Tyler Ulis goes to the Spurs

Yesterday, a report came out that the San Antonio Spurs are taking a hard look at Tyler Ulis with the 29th pick in Thursday’s Draft. While it would be a little disappointing to see Tyler still on the board at #29, going to the Spurs could be the best scenario possible for him. On today’s teleconference, John Calipari agreed, telling reporters he’ll do a back flip if Tyler goes to the Spurs.

“If he could ever play for the Spurs and that organization, I would do a back flip on Draft night,” Calipari vowed. “And the reason is, you’re around true professionals that are teammates that understand what do we all have to do to win and how does winning supersede everything else. It’s amazing what gets done when no one cares who gets the credit. That saying has the Spurs logo beside it.”

“I would probably say, ‘Tyler, to go later in the Draft would be better, and show up in San Antonio,’ he’d probably say, ‘Coach, I don’t want to risk it, I want to go earlier,’ but I think he’d be ecstatic there, I think he’d be a great fit.”

We’re not forgetting about that back flip, Coach. Start stretching now.

Lets start with a somersault Coach. No need for back/neck surgery

It would be nice to see that happen, but I wonder also if the Spurs are behind the false reports of “hip problems”? Was that all an underhanded way to cause Ulis’ stock to fall so they could pick him? If so, that’s a bit shady.

Back flip…. hmmm. There better be trampoline or some hidden wires involved with those hips of his (Cal’s robo hips).

How funny would it be to see Cal doing back flips across the back of the stage in the green room while they announced the 29th pick? I’m ROTFLMAO off thinking about it.

If the hip rumor means going to a team like this, so be it. He probably won’t get in the lottery with guaranteed money anyway, unfortunately, so let’s at least have him go to a good team.

I love the Cats getting drafted high but if I have to see one more of our great young players get drafted by the Kings, 76ers, or Pelicans I’m going to cry. Unfortunately for Tyler, Philly has two opportunities to ruin someone’s career before it starts with the 24th and 26th pick right before San Antonio at 29.

This is how I feel, too, but that’s mostly me being a selfish fan. I’d rather see 10 Tayshaun Prince scenarios play out than watch UK’s best prospects get funneled to the 76ers, Pelicans, etc. and be the lone bright spot on a dumpster fire of a team. You’ve gotta be excited for the position Towns and possibly Murray will be in on Minnesota going forward, though.
