Calipari on Randle: “He will be an even better pro”

Calipari did not attend Julius Randle’s press conference this afternoon but he used his Twitter device to release a statement about his soon-to-be top five pick:

“I truly believe that Julius Randle will be an even better pro than a college player. He was Shaq’d all year — in every way. I really appreciate all that he did for this program and how he represented all of us throughout the entire year. I cannot wait to watch him shine at the next level.”

Cal is exactly right, too — not that he needs me to validate his statement. Julius won’t be drawing double and triple-teams in the NBA so he’ll have better opportunities to shine offensively. Just think if a team paired him up with a center that does draw lots of double and triple-teams like, oh, I don’t know, say, DeMarcus Cousins?

His mom has to have a lot of credit for the way he’s turned out, just a good natured guy who’ll do both his family and UK proud. I wish him nothing but the best!

A front court pairing of Randle and Cuz would be the worst defensive front court in the NBA. And I’m a huge fan of both

Throw Rudy Gay in there and you might have the worst defensive team in the league. Let’s hope he doesn’t go to Sacramento. I’d like to see him go somewhere with some sort of leadership, or at least a veteran big man he could turn to and rely on…and we know Cuz isn’t ever gonna be that.

Good for him and I think this analysis is right. There will be more space for Julius to operate in the NBA. Maybe they’ll even call fouls!

Yea, another year of 3 people hanging and beating on him at the same time with no fouls called probably makes him relieved he is going to the NBA. They just through the new foul rules out the door when it came to him. He will be great in the NBA.

You UK fans are blind! Always complaining about Randle getting fouled and it not getting called. He goes over the back or pushes the guy forward in the back everytime he gets a rebound! Rewatch the last play in the LSU game where the ball luckily fell into Young’s hands….Randle came running down the lane and forearmed the guy forward for Young to get the ball… call of course. You fools lose that game and you probably weren’t even in the tourney. Majority of calls go UK’s way every game every year, just a fact! Hope your happy hanging up your new banner reminding you that you failed. Didn’t you have the best recruiting class in the history of the NCAA with 8 McDonald All-Americans….Weren’t you supposed to go 40-0 this year……Wasn’t it supposed to be National Championship or bust!!!!! BUST!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Good luck ….. if you ain’t first you’re last ….. guess you’re not back on top! UCONN just beat you for the title and you don’t even have the most recent title in your own state! STFU!

Wow, deez. I guess if my team was 1-6 against it’s rival over the last 5 years I’d be pulling for any other team that can beat them, too. good luck with life…

I remember when I was in middle school and used to say “deeznuts” all the time, too. I was the coolest kid in school so I kept saying it all throughout my adulthood thinking I would still be the “cool guy”. But I was tired of being a 40 year old virgin, so I stopped.

There’s no guarantee he’s a top 5 pick. I think his lack of an outside jumpshot will hurt him in the league. Best of luck to him though.

@deeznuts Lol. That is some deeply rooted jealousy right there…and I love it.

Either you are a UConn fan or you aren’t…

IF you are, what’s your problem, YOU won a National Championship.

IF you’re not a UConn fan, you know what you are saying, “UK’s a BUST, but my school is an even bigger BUST, because we didn’t accomplish what UK did!”

That Logic thing might be a bit tough for you, but try to digest it.

In no scenario can the kings pick 4th or 5th. They can get pick #1,2,3,7,8,9 or 10. If they get 1,2,or 3 or three they’d pick a Wiggens, Parker, or Embiid, by the time 7-10 rolls around Julius will be gone. So let’s not get our hopes up.

He can be a better pro but he will have to develop a short range jumper to keep the defense honest.
