The Joe B. and Denny Bluegrass Showcase has been underway this weekend and its brought some of the best players in the country to Lexington. As such a bunch of those best players happen to be Kentucky targets and several of them had career games this weekend. Last night it was Caleb Swanigan who showed out. Swanigan finished with a career high 39 points, 21 rebounds, and 6 assists in an 83-67 win. The game was a nice bounce back after struggling on Friday with his shot-selection. Perhaps it had something to do with his team watching the Cats practice earlier in the day.
Calipari did not get to witness Swanigan’s performance as he was watching Malik Monk take on Jayson Tatum in Arkansas. Monk dropped 45 bigguns in front of coach Cal and went 18-18 from the charity stripe . Tatum had a solid game as well by finishing with 31 points and 18 boards. That output wasn’t enough as Monk’s team won 86-77.
Thon Maker, Miles Bridges, and Thomas Bridges are also in town for the Bluegrass Showcase and have all had big weekends on the court. I’d say there is a pretty good chance they could make an appearance later today at the Providence game. Did you get a chance to witness these future stars over the holiday weekend?
