Cal and Rick’s Halftime Interviews Define Their Relationship

John Calipari and Rick Pitino always put on a pretty face whenever they’re next to one another, but it’s a different story when they’re talking about each other on camera.  Today’s halftime interviews perfectly encapsulate their “Big Brother, Little Brother” dynamic.

Cal was his usual swaggy-self, answering the first question straight-forward, but getting a little smarmy in the second.  Here’s the shot he took at Pitino when talking about technicals.

Rick did what Rick likes to do — whine.  He said he never complains about officials, but I see Rick complain a lot.  It’s a shame we couldn’t see more from him after the game, because the man is the sorest of sore losers.

Whaaa Whaaaa Whaaaaa……. Every year, we have to listen to all the whining. My facebook feed is full of U of L fans making excuses, blaming the refs, and otherwise talking about how the cats cheated. Every year I expect to hear all this. Truly pathetic. I am tired of hearing it.

Same here lol, yet they were the ones in the bonus with 10+ minutes left in BOTHA halves. They got away with walk after walk in crunch time too, lee must have drug his foot 5 feet on the final shot and no whistle. The refs may have not been great but they sure weren’t in UKs favor

That wasn’t a “shot” at Pitino at all, rather a joking jab that anyone would do to someone they liked. You don’t get jokes do ya Nick?

i agree sa. and it wasn’t smarmy, it was more facetious. more good natured. something he would have said if pitino were standing right beside him.

I would love to see some of the plays Ole Ricky P was talking about. For every one they can show we can show 2 of our guys getting mugged by the looserville thugz fo life players.

I remember early in the game UK got a call on an out-of-bounds ball. After that I didn’t see any. I kept seeing their bigs mugging our guys with very few calls, but many touch calls against us. The refs heard fliptino’s halftime rant and reacted by giving him the calls. Any person who whines about UK getting calls when Doug Shows crew is working the game is just flat out ignoring facts.

That guy LEE for UL got away with pushing off all game long and one charge. Then on the last play of the game got away with a walk. Of course it didn’t matter because he missed, but if it had gone in the non-call would have been huge.

Louisville fouls more than any team in NCAA. How ironic Pitino made that comment. It’s never him or his coaching.
