BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: Where are All Our Former Players? (2000-2009)

I did these posts a couple years back and got a great response, so I thought it might be a good time to do a little updating.  As UK fans, we love our past as much as we do our present and future, and we love to keep up with our former players.  But after 10 or so years, sometimes it becomes difficult to find our where these guys have gone.  Many hang around in the state, but most do not.  So, I did a little digging and found out the whereabouts of nearly every player who played in the program from 1990 on.  Today, we will look at the players from the 2000’s and then tomorrow we will move on to the 2010’s.

Yeah. Being a financial analyst for TD Ameritrade is just horrible. I bet you probably have a much better job than him. You probably played 2 years at UK and then transferred to get an Ivy League degree from Cornell. That is pretty funny.

Morakinyo Williams, Kerry Benson, Mark Halsell, Adam Delph, Dwight Perry – who the hell are some of these folks?

Also, I still can’t believe that Erik Daniels never made it in the league. It’s a shame really, he had more skills than a lot of players with his size in the league when he came out, but at 6’8, his inability to put his head above the rim really hurt him.

I am thinking he made the 15 man roster one year for the Kings maybe, but then got cut midway through the season. Not sure if he ever appeared in a NBA game.

    • Ryan

I think he made it with the Kings for a couple season. Chris Webber loved his game and helped keep him around for a few years I think.

As if Rick Pitino’s son getting hired to replace the fired Tubby Smith at Minnesota and immediately making them look better than Tubby ever did at the age of 31 wasn’t high comedy enough, you had to go and list all of Tubby’s shitty players on one page.

I understand that a lot are still playing ball, but besides Prince, Rondo, Estill (asst. coach) not many have returned or have been spotted at Rupp Arena or around the program. Kind of sad actually. Cal may have a lot of one and cones, but they seem to stay connected to the program after they leave.
