BREAKING: 2022 five-star guard Skyy Clark commits to KENTUCKY

Kentucky has picked up its first commitment in the class of 2022.

This evening, five-star junior guard Skyy Clark announced his commitment to UK, choosing the Wildcats over Memphis, North Carolina and UCLA.

Clark, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Brentwood Academy (TN), is considered the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2022 247Sports Composite rankings. Rivals has Clark listed at No. 13 overall in their player rankings, while 247Sports and ESPN have him listed at No. 14 and No. 19, respectively.

Long seen as a heavy Kentucky lean in the spring and into the summer, there were rumblings that a commitment was on the horizon after receiving an offer from John Calipari and the UK coaching staff on July 1, with buzz continuing well into August.

Things died down a bit – North Carolina briefly emerged as a legitimate contender – before ramping back up in recent weeks, with Kentucky picking up all nine Crystal Ball picks over at 247Sports and four straight FutureCast picks at Rivals in recent weeks. .

Back in July, Clark joined KSR’s Sources Say Podcast to discuss his Kentucky offer, noting that it was something he had been waiting on for a “very long time.”

“Psh, I don’t even know what to say, it was just a huge blessing,” Clark said. “We were on a Zoom call with Coach [John] Calipari, Coach [Tony] Barbee, Coach Kenny Payne, Coach [Joel] Justus, and Coach [Brady] Kennedy, just hearing [Calipari] say, “You have an official scholarship to Kentucky,” it didn’t even seem real. It’s something I’ve been waiting on for a very long time.”

Clark previously spoke with KSR back in February when rumors of his genuine Kentucky interest picked up, where the five-star prospect had high praise for Calipari and the UK basketball program.

“As you all know, Coach Calipari is an amazing coach,” Clark said. “Everything about Kentucky is on a new level. They try to get you to the league, which is my ultimate goal. They’re going to push you to not only be a player in the league, but one of the top players in the league. That’s something I’m definitely looking for when I go to college.”

Now that a college decision is out of the way, Clark now has to decide on when he will play at the next level.

This summer, the five-star guard said he was taking the classes necessary to make a jump to 2021 in case he decides to reclassify at a later date.

“You all are hearing this first, but I’m planning on taking all of my junior and senior year classes this coming year just in case I do reclass up so I’ll be ready,” Clark told KSR. “I’m definitely considering it now. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it’s definitely an option.

“I told most of the college coaches that I’m definitely considering reclassing up. I feel like it just depends on my development. … I feel like my body is getting to the point where it’s built enough, I’m physical enough to play at that level. … So yeah, it just depends on how I feel going into the season, how my game goes, stuff like that.”

The latest speculation is that Clark is still leaning toward staying in the 2022 class, but the Kentucky coaching staff is happy to bring him in either year.

Regardless of what he ultimately decides to do, Clark has found his future home in Lexington.

How is this possible, given that Cal can’t recruit anymore….according to some of the trolls on this site.

However, Dook University is named for Washington Duke, a slave owner who joined the Confederate Navy. He is buried in the Memorial Chapel in the center of Dook’s campus. They also have a big ole statue of him on their east campus; but, you never hear about any of that.

And that means what? How well did that work out for K with Zion, Reddish and Barrett? ZSPN called that the greatest recruiting class of all time.

Except we’ve got two consensus top 10 guys this year who have both been in the top 5 over the past couple seasons…

@njcat Was Tyler Herro a top 5 recruit? Bam missed it by one at top 6. I guess we’ll have to start paying top 5 players like the programs who are getting the top 5 if that means that much to you.

You’re no better than the trolls with your constant troll-bait antagonizing garbage. You might even be worse than the trolls since your world seems to revolve around them while they just toy with you.

Now give me one of your slater/mashbum/uofl fan/go home/ lines that no one thinks is funny but you. As if you’re the sheriff of this place…

This kid doesn’t physically look like a typical High Schooler. Even for a big time athlete. Looks far bigger than 6′ 3″ to me. Reminds me of Bogans or Crawford from a physical standpoint. Whenever he plays here, the future looks good.
