Bracketology Update No. 98,523,009

KSR-4692

It is peak Bracketology season for Joey Lunardi and the boys so let’s take a look at how the projections stand today.

Up first, Lunardi has Kentucky as the No. 2 seed in the South region in Memphis. That draw would mean a look at Creighton or  Michigan State in the second game, followed by likely matchups with Arizona and then North Carolina in the second weekend for a trip to Phoenix.

3-6-bracket

Then over at CBS, Jerry Palm has Kentucky as the No. 2 team in the East region with Villanova as the top dog. Florida State is the No. 3 in that scenario.

The good people at USA Today have the Cats as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest region with West Virginia.

Meanwhile Duke gets a bye for the 1st four rounds….

Any idea why ESPN and CBS have different locations for the first round? CBS has the East region playing in Indy, ESPN has the South region playing in Indy and USA Today has Midwest in Indy.

The first 2 rounds can be played anywhere, it doesnt matter what region you are in. Because we are ranked high enough and that there’s no body that’s closer to Indianapolis (except U of L), we’ll more than likely go there (along with Louisville I would imagine).

I want CBS’s bracket. Nothing but FSU and Nova standing in the way to the Final Four. Could be a lot worse.

Of course, Duke will get placed in Gonzaga’s bracket no matter what else may happen.

I think I would take Joe’s bracket over the other ones. Looks better for the eye.

This is about par for the course. For the second year in a row we will have a team ranked ahead of us as a lower seed. This year it’s Arizona last year was IU. And probably for the 103rd year in a row we will prove to be a better team than Duke on the court and they will receive an easier road. It’s always comical.

Kentucky in ’12-’13 was 21-10 (12-6) and wasn’t even considered for the tournament. Duke is 23-8 (11-7) and will be what?… 3 or 4 seed?

      You’re kidding, right?

In 2012-2013, UK beat the following ranked opponents: #16 Ole Miss (in Oxford); #11 Florida (in Rupp). RPI was 57, SOS 69, 7-9 against RPI Top 100.

In 2016-2017, Duke beat the following ranked opponents: #24 Rhode Island (neutral site); #21 Florida (neutral site); #20 Notre Dame (in South Bend); #8 UNC (in Durham); #14 UVA (in Charlottesville); #15 Florida State (in Durham). RPI 14, SOS 11,14-7 against RPI Top 100.

I am genuinely interested if you cannot tell the difference between a bubble team and a (most-likely) 4 seed.

The USA today site you linked has Duke as the 3 seed in our Midwest bracket. WV is a 4 in the East. The 1 seed in Kansas, but they could get taken out by Arizona(4). You know, if this bracket were to be correct.

I don’t want any part of West Virginia so that’s who will be in our bracket as sure as the sun shines. At least given the current seedlings they are likely a 4 seed, however should they win the Big 12 tourny it’s conceivable they could get a 3. I’d be willing to wager big money they’d be in our bracket for sure then.

I’ve been convinced for past 3 weeks that WVU will be in our region. This is one of Huggy’s better teams– they play hard nosed street ball and are the exact kind of team that play exactly like he wants. I really don’t want them in our region either.

DUKES a 1 seed playing at home against Morehead with their team managers as the Ref’s.

They will have Gonz. as their #1 in the south. as always and will also play Butler and another team thats rated in top 25 that really never plays anyone.
