Bracketology: Kentucky rises after win over Alabama

Kentucky’s win over Alabama not only got them back on the winning path, it also may have improved their tournament resume. Joe Lunardi bumped Kentucky from an eight seed to a six seed in his latest Bracketology, playing first and second round games in Nashville:

Lunardi has eight SEC teams in right now:

  • Auburn (2)
  • Tennessee (4)
  • Florida (6)
  • Kentucky (6)
  • Texas A&M (6)
  • Alabama (7)
  • Missouri (7)
  • Arkansas (10)

Arkansas is 25th in the RPI right now, meaning a Quadrant 1 win is on the line tomorrow night in Fayetteville. Quadrant 1 games are defined as home games vs. teams with an RPI of 1-30, neutral site games vs. opponents with an RPI of 1-50, and away games vs. opponents with an RPI of  1-75. Kentucky is 3-7 in Quadrant 1 games thus far (wins over Texas A&M, West Virginia, and LSU), so a win over Arkansas would be big for the resume.

Here’s Kentucky’s current team sheet from the NCAA:

The opportunity is there; will the Cats take it?

I live in Nashville and bought NCAA tickets last April in hopes of seeing UK play here. I hope this trend continues!

They may last 2 rounds this year. Hope they go all the way, it’s been done before.

I could actually see this being UK’s bracket. Kansas, Michigan State, UNCheaters, and Baylor. I bet this is already set in stone. Duke will get Villinova, Washington, YMCA….

Is there anything higher than a Quadrant 1 win? A win against Arkansas at Rupp would be a Q1. A win against them on the road should be like Quadrant 0.

This definitely a potential bracket. The only way it could worse would be for them to figure out how to put West Virginia in there. I think if this would be the bracket, the UK should let the NCAA know, that in their second round or any round that they might be line up against the Cheatin’ Dean Smiths, that they will refuse to play the game…even if it is in the national championship game. Somebody needs to take a stand, and it might as well be us.

They will figure out how to put W Va and Cincinnati and Wichita State in with us. All schools should boycott until they get UNCheat and Dook out of their home state.

Lol, exactly what we were telling him the other night. SEC is loaded. I’d love to play Kansas again btw. They are very weak for a 1. Big 12 is so overrated it’s ridiculous.

Oh, and we are way ahead of that sorry Syracuse team he was talking up. They will be lucky to even make it. Also ahead of Miami. Alabama and Missouri are also ahead of Syracuse and Miami. What an idiot that guy is.

ESPN has 6 SEC teams in their top 25 power rankings. UK is 17th in the RPI. SEC is better than the ACC is every ranking system. Too bad those ACC clowns can’t comprehend facts.

Really doesn’t matter anyway, they are going to put us in the toughest bracket regardless of seed. In this one all you would have to do is beat NC, Mich. St., Arizona, and KU. That’s all.

Give me a potential rematch against Kansas at a 1 seed. Yeehaw. Gonzaga? UNC? Speak that bracket into existence…

Exactly. Kansas as a 1 seed is a joke. SEC has proven to be better than the Big 12.

Personally, I liked the bracket we had as an 8 seed better. Yeah, I think we could beat UNCheat if we could choose what ref’s are calling the game and keep Ol’ Roy and his checkbook away from them. Same thing with Self – anyone see the wad of cash he had to pull out from under his hairpiece for that officiating he got in the game against WVU the other day?

I have $20.00 that says Higgins gets assigned to a UK game in the Tourny.

If we win out the regular season and win the sec tournament we’ll be a 3rd or 4th seed
