BJ Boston’s name will get called a lot during his likely one-and-done season in Lexington this coming winter, and they’re already mentioning him among the best in the nation before he plays his first minute for Kentucky.
A five-star recruit and the No. 1 shooting guard in the 2020 class, Boston was tabbed a preseason All-American by both CBSSports.com and Stadium, Jeff Goodman’s online joint.
Goodman wrote, “Look for Boston to be John Calipari’s top player on a young and balanced ‘Cats roster. He’s got the size and can score in a variety of ways.”
Boston was named to Stadium’s Third Team. Cade Cunningham, who picked Oklahoma State over Kentucky hours before last year’s Champions Classic, was tabbed as Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Over at CBSSports.com’s All-American fun, the CBS team of college basketball writers also decided Boston was worthy of a Third Team selection.
“The highest-rated prospect in Kentucky’s vaunted freshman class, Boston will be immediately charged with producing at a high level,” the site says.
Cunningham was also CBS’s top freshman.
No other Wildcat earned a mention on either site’s preseason honors.
