Bilas: “This is not a good draw for Kentucky”

Screen Shot 2017-03-13 at 11.16.01 AM

During last night’s endless coverage of the NCAA tournament bracket, Jay Bilas said what we all here in Kentucky have been saying since the field was revealed: Kentucky got hosed.

Bilas believes Wichita State, a possible second-round opponent for the Cats, should be a No. 5 seed, not a No. 10 in the same bracket as UK.

“I think this Wichita State team is more of a five,” Bilas said Sunday evening. “They are really good. This is not a good draw for Kentucky. They can handle it. They should still win. But it’s not a good draw.”

Bilas also said it was stupid when the committee had the two teams together in 2014 and it is stupid again this time.

Fortunately, it’s also not a good draw for Wichita State…

Dayton is not a good draw for Wichita State. Dayton is quick and athletic.

Bilas may be a dookie, but he is generally spot-on with his analysis.

I agree Bilas is generally very good and defends UK and Cal.

He’s absolutely right. But so is Sentient Third Eye. Too bad for Wichita St. What a great story it will be to get to the title game. Avenge 2 losses and beat the #1 seed… again

Buy your tickets for Memphis…it will be like another home game. If we can’t beat the Shockers then there is something wrong. If our path is hard, then good because it will make us better in the end. Play defense, take good shots, we are beating anyone in our bracket.

We can sit and complain and say this and that, bottom line is we have to win 6 games. We can cry about it or we can just move on and play who we have to play. Let things shake out the first 2 days and then talk about Wichita State. On a side note, it really bothers me when people relate old teams like Florida Gulf Coast to their current teams. Dunk City baby, no baby that was years ago. Fred Van Fleet is not walking is not starting for Wichita State. Every team in the tourney is dangerous if you dont respect them. One thing a lot of fans are missing here is these teams DONT want to see us either. UCLA might have beaten us, but that was way early and we have gotten a lot better and earned a ton more of experience.

Naw see you can’t just go with that “Ya gotta win 6 games no matter what” line. That’s true for any team. The bottom line is the 6 teams potentially in front of you are ABSOLUTELY a factor and a factor that can be affected for good or ill by the selection committee!

I will admit I was upset at the draw and do feel it is unfair..but you know what? I don’t care anymore..in fact, bring it on! If everything plays out like it could/should we have a chance to avenge two of the three loses we haven’t already avenged. (UCLA, Louisville/Kansas). I like it. Bring it on. I hope we play Duke in the final and I hope we destroy them.

Have seen at least 100 comments saying how bad it is we got Wichita State. Yes they have a good record but look at their schedule people, they have beat 0 good teams, Vandy is their best win. They are actually in a weaker conference than we are, our record is misleading as well because of our conference. UCLA plays no defense, Zero. If UCLA makes shots, and they will take alot and several bad ones, they can beat anyone in a single game but that goes for almost any team. UCLA has not played well down the stretch, finished 3rd in a conference that only got 3, ok 4 if you count USC, teams in. UCLA was also easily beat in their conf tourney. UNC is the only real hard team in our draw, I don’t like the fact we have not played good teams in quite some time, SEC stinks and hurts us.

Give me a break with all this “Kentucky got hosed” nonsense. You have to beat good teams to win the national championship simple as that. If Kentucky shows up and plays like it’s capable of we’ll be fine. If we don’t show up like we’ve done several times this year we could just as easily lose to Northern Kentucky. Sucks we’ll probably have to play UCLA, but the 4-12 seeds are the weakest overall in any region IMO.

This is a great draw for us! I’m ready to show we’re the best team in the Nation by knocking of the other good teams. Time to lace up the shoes and win this Championship. I can’t wait!
