University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Athlon Sports ranks Kentucky 3rd in its 2016-2017 Preseason Rankings

With the NBA early-entry deadline in the rearview mirror, the nation’s pundits are revisiting their preseason rankings for 2016-2017. After ranking Kentucky second behind Duke earlier this spring, Athlon Sports’ David Fox moved Kentucky to third in his most recent preseason rankings, behind Duke and defending National Champs Villanova:

3. Kentucky

Top Returners: G Isaiah Briscoe, F Derek Willis, G Dominique Hawkins, F Isaac Humphries
Newcomers: G De’Aaron Fox, F Bam Adebayo, G Malik Monk, F Wenyen Gabriel (freshmen)

Buzz: Isaiah Briscoe returned to school, giving Kentucky at least one key piece returning from last year’s squad. Forward Marcus Lee elected to transfer rather than return to another crowded situation in the frontcourt. As usual, Kentucky brings in a loaded recruiting class with five top 25 prospects.

Here’s the entire top ten for your viewing pleasure:

1. Duke
2. Villanova
3. Kentucky
4. Kansas
5. Oregon
6. North Carolina
7. Virginia
8. Xavier
9. Arizona
10. Indiana

Fox included Terrence Ferguson among Arizona’s newcomers, and after yesterday’s news that Ferguson will likely forego college to play overseas for a year, I have a feeling the (other) Wildcats will fall out of the top ten.
