Three Kentucky Wildcats will be in the Green Room at the NBA Draft tonight to hear their names called, and another has joined them in New York to offer his support.
Ashton Hagans made the trek to the Big Apple to watch his former teammates PJ Washington, Tyler Herro, and Keldon Johnson be drafted. Last night, Herro posted this video of Hagans arriving on his Instagram story:
After the season ended, Hagans quickly announced he was returning to Kentucky instead of entering the draft, which was a surprise to some. As a freshman, he averaged 7.7 points, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals, but said he wanted to come back to Lexington to improve his game and take care of some unfinished business.
“We had a great season this year but I want more,” Hagans said. “I know I’ve only scratched the surface with my game and there’s so much more I want to accomplish at Kentucky. Coach Cal and the staff have challenged me since day one, and I know with another season at UK we can chase some special things with the same mindset. I can’t wait to get back to work with my brothers.”
Enjoy the night, Ashton. Next year, it will be you.
