Johnny Jones is cleaning house down in Baton Rouge. This morning, the LSU coach announced that guard Anthony Hickey, forward Shane Hammink, and guard Malik Morgan will not return to the team next season, and will transfer.
You should remember Hickey because he’s a Hopkinsville native, a former Kentucky Mr. Basketball, and in the past three years at LSU, has always played well against the Cats. He started 85 games for the Tigers. This season, he put up 34 points against Kentucky in three games, including a 20-point, 5 rebound, 8 assist performance in UK’s overtime win in Lexington.
Hmmm…with no Hickey and no Johnny O’Bryant, that series just got a whole lot easier. Any chance Cal picks up Hickey? Where there’s smoke, there’s gotta be fire, right?
UPDATE: It looks like there’s an arrest record, but no date. Scout’s Ben Love covers LSU and tweeted this as well:
Will say this: Keeping Anthony Hickey eligible and on the floor for three years may go down as one of the more impressive modern miracles.
