An Extra Election Day Challenge Between UK and Duke

Tuesday, November 6th will be contentious for a number of reasons. In 48 states, politics will take center stage as Democrats and Republicans brawl at the ballot box to see who will control Washington D.C. for the next two years. But in two states, Kentucky and North Carolina, Tuesday is all about basketball.

In what could be the most anticipated game of the entire 2018-2019 season, our number 2 ranked Wildcats will square off against the 4th ranked Blue Devils of Duke. I can think of no better way to kick off the coming year than to send the Crazies back to Durham with an L. But what if there was a way to beat Duke twice, once on the hardwood and another at the polls? Turns out, there is.

The Lexington Herald-Leader is having a friendly competition with its sister newspaper in Raleigh to determine which fan base can rock the vote the hardest. Cats fans can make their presence felt using the hashtag #VoterByDayWildcatByNight alongside a photo or video of them wearing Kentucky gear with an “I Voted” sticker or while working at a polling place. Some of the rules are as follows:

    • Only photos and videos submitted on Nov. 6 will count.
    • Any UK fans can participate! Whether you are in Lexington or a Wildcat in a different state, as long as you vote, you are a #VoterByDayWildcatByNight.
    • Photos, videos must be submitted on social media using the hashtag #VoterByDayWildcatByNight
You can check out the full list of rules here, which includes all of the social media sites that count for the KY/NC faceoff. For me, I know nothing would feel better after a deflating weekend than to bounce back by taking down Coach K on the court and the Dukies as a whole at the voting booth.

As for the big happening Tuesday…. For anybody here in Kentucky who is friend or family, and you are choosing not to turn out — wherever you are in this state, in this country — you are dishonoring your family. You are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering and their dreams, when you don’t turn out and support the Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday Night against Duke!

Don’t say that! You’ll get banned from Twitter like Michael J. Knowles (Daily Wire) did, even though there were dozens of the same post telling Republicans to vote on the 7th. Smh.

I love that Cal has the stones to play these games so early in the season.

He is the anti-Pitino (once at Loserville)
