Alabama basketball will return its leading scorer in 2021-22.

After exploring his professional and transfer options this offseason, Jaden Shackelford has announced he will return to Alabama for a junior campaign.

“I’m blessed to have the support system I have to guide me through my every step,” Shackelford said. “Now it’s time to finish what we started… RUN IT BACK!”

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Hesperia, California averaged a team-high 14.0 points per contest while also leading the Tide in free throw percentage (.756) and field goals made (154) and attempted (376), while ranking second in threes made (63) and attempted (184), free throws made (90) and attempted (119) and minutes per game (29.4).

Shackelford started 32 of 33 total games during Alabama’s impressive run to SEC regular season and tournament titles, along with leading the charge on the team’s Sweet 16 run in the NCAA Tournament. It was a standout sophomore campaign that led to SEC Second Team All-Conference honors at the conclusion of the season.

Originally declaring for the NBA Draft in April and entering the transfer portal on June 30 – Shackelford also considered Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech – the standout guard joins a loaded roster in Tuscaloosa that also includes returnees Jahvon Quinerly and Keon Ellis, five-star freshman JD Davison, Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett and Furman transfer Noah Gurley, among others.

Kentucky will have competition at the top of the SEC in 2021-22.

For those that haven’t been keeping up with it, the SEC is going to be an absolute buzz saw this year. Kentucky will be one of about five teams that will likely be nationally-ranked all season. SEC road games will be brutal.

Sorry CahillsCrossing but looks like the UK and about 3 other teams are going to end the season being better than your lover coach K’s Blew Devils.
