A Pair of Cats are “Banged Up” After the Missouri Game

Kentucky’s backcourt took a few shots last night, and I’m not talking about jumpers.

On tonight’s call-in show, John Calipari revealed De’Aaron Fox and Isaiah Briscoe are both banged up following Kentucky’s ten-point win over Missouri.

Fox has a bruised knee from the pile up following a rebound.  “He’ll get treatment.  We’ll see what happens tomorrow.  Isaiah hurt his ankle,” Cal said.

The team had meetings today but did not practice.  Until they practice, Calipari is unsure about their status for Saturday’s game.

“We will see.  Hopefully they’re both ready for the game.  It will be a little tougher if they’re not.”

Yea unless Diallo is checking in I don’t see a win without those two.

Briscoe is a bum anyway… We need Fox running the point. Glad Briscoe is fouling out now!

Why doesn’t Cal bench Briscoe? Has anyone really watched him play? He is a punk on the court. Can’t shoot. Can’t pass. Can’t make free throws. Runs out of bounds, a lot… He is hurting this team in more ways than one. If Willis skrews up, Cal takes him right out. But not Briscoe…. I am at the point now where I am rooting for him to get in early foul trouble. That seems to be the only way Cal will bench him. When he is out, they play better as a team. Hawkins, Mulder, and Willis are all seniors. They are much more deserving. #BENCHBRISCOE

Do you remember when Cal threw away title # 9, and a perfect 40 – 0 because he refused to bench Andrew Harrison in favor of Tyler Ulis in the Wisconsin game? Cal has a fierce loyalty to guys who come back a second year. Right or wrong… it’s part of his M.O.

“Andrew had 13 points (5-11) and 2 rebounds in 31 minutes. And Andrew’s 4 assists were more than the entire rest of the team COMBINED.”

Well Rixter you’re right. We shouldn’t tolerate fierce loyalty. Terrible trait. Disgusting and vile.

Cal even said he should have taken Andrew out so why are you arguing this? Everyone but JusSayin says he should have stayed in… That’s how I know you are not a U of K fan. Are you getting paid to defend any criticism???

Either Cal is BS-ing (most likely scenario)

Or we are going to get that strong “shooting back-court” you guys wanted.

Let’s see how that works out.

    JusSayin can’t defend Briscoe???

“Punk”: He was recruited as PG and bulked up to play SF for 2 years without complaining he’s been nothing but a good teammate in the locker room and on the court. And I like his mean streak.

“Can’t Shoot”: This is objectively true. No rebuttal here.

“Can’t pass”: Less game he started at PG he had 8 assists. He also had another game with double digit assists. He routinely finds the open man when teams play zone against us.

“Runs out of bounds a lot”: Yep…

      “______ are ore deserving…”
Mulder: Maybe… Its a different look. Have to see if our offense is still dynamic or becomes one dimensional but it’s worth a shot.

Hawkins: He has lower shooting percentages from the field and 3 than Briscoe.

Willis: He plays power forward. His defense and rebounding stops him from getting minutes. Not Briscoe.

“rooting for him to get in early foul trouble”: This is over the top. You would root against us to spite Briscoe? Lame.

He is a punk on the court. He talk a lot of S*** for someone who can’t make any shot but a lay up… Do you want him in the game when we need a free throw or a three pointer or hell a 10 footer??? What a joke. Do you watch the games or do you just sweat anyone who plays for Kentucky? People that actually watch and know the game knows Briscoe sucks. NBA didn’t want him and you are defending him. Plain and simple

@jamesj1982 I agree that Briscoe can’t shoot. He also is prone to turnovers albeit because of over aggressiveness. You need to remember that without him we are 3 losses worse at this point in the season and that’s not up for debate that’s fact. He has put this team on his back on more than one occasion. Do YOU watch the games or do you have a short term memory?

  14. JamesJ1982
    8:18 pm February 22, 2017 Permalink

I have watched every game. Without him the other team has less points because of his bad shots and turnovers that leads to the other team scoring points.

If Briscoe didn’t foul out the other night we would have lost and you know it. He is trying so hard to get to the NBA that he forgets about his teamates. I will give it to Briscoe. He does try hard. He trys too hard and maybe thats why he looks so stupid. When Fox took over they looked like a different team.

catsarerunnin and JusSayin, Do you work for KSR??? Or Cal??? I can’t reply to your comments and you are all over Briscoes nuts. A true fan of basketball knows Briscoe should not be in the game. Do you want him at the line at the end of the game? If you need a three do you want him to shoot it? If you need a great pass do you want Fox or Briscoe passing you the ball? I guess if you want a wide open lay up, Briscoe is your man because thats his game and that where he gets his FG%

    • catsarerunnin

No I don’t work for either. I’m also not an basketball expert and neither are you. To listen to you and others, this team is 5-23. There’s nothing wrong with giving opinions but acting as if you have all the answers is ridiculous. Cal or almost any college basketball coach knows more than you or me about the game and their team. It baffles me how some on here have worked themselves into a complete lather because in their eyes this team has underachieved. They are 23-5 and tied for first in the SEC. Do I think this team will make the Final Four? No not really. Would I be surprised if they did? No not really but only because of Cal’s record. To all of those who are complaining about Cal,I would just remind you of the Billy G. years. Many wanted Tubby gone….as did I….but look what happened. There are rumblings that Cal may be offered the New Orleans Pelicans job. I’m not sure he would go but I for one would hate to see it. I just would like to know from you or anybody else who would rather have here as coach?

Don’t feed the retarded troll JamesJ.
I guess he missed all of the facts posted earlier today on two or three different posts completely refuting all his ” points.”
The twins both outplayed Ullis and Booker in the Wisconsin game. Briscoe averages 14 a game and shoots better than Hawkins. His three pt percentage is better than Fox.
He has a triple- double and three double-doubles.
Infuriating at times? Yep. Share some more minutes with Mulder and Hawk? Sure.
    James, STFU?
    Absolutely.

This team plays against each other almost every day and all of Zay’s teammates know what he can do. He is their leader on the floor. He has been off his game lately, it is true. Perhaps because he is trying to do too much, instead of letting the game come to him? Just my opinion, but I think Zay is one of the best passers and rebounders on the team. I think we need to focus more on the positive and less on the negative. When they play as a team, they are pretty good.
