Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

A Midsummer Night’s Run Presents: Hello, Paradise

On Saturday, August 11, runners and walkers will take to the streets of downtown for Lexington’s signature 5K, the 34th running of A Midsummer Night’s Run presented by Lexington Athletic Center.  The evening will also include the Fastest Kid In Town race, a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, and a festival featuring food vendors, a beer garden, & live music.  Register today at www.amidsummer5k.com.

The Big Blue Nation has found a new home for the next week.

The Kentucky basketball team has made it to the Atlantis Resort at Paradise Island, Bahamas.  Before they tip-off tomorrow night against the Bahamas National Team, the Cats will have an open practice at 1:30 inside the Imperial Arena.

The open practice will be the first opportunity for fans to see this year’s Kentucky team, but we won’t blame you if you miss it.  Bahamas shenanigans are the best kind of shenanigans.  You gotta take advantage while you can. Yesterday the KSR crew had quite an adventure and the team has already tested out the water park.

The basketball players have their fair share of down time, but there’s a quite a few other important items on the agenda aside from basketball.  One day will be dedicated to service with the Samaritan’s Feet organization.

They aren’t the only Wildcats on the road.  The UK women’s basketball team will play in Florence today at 12:30, two days removed from a beatdown of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Rome.

Day Five of Football Camp

Kentucky football practice reports are back in a big way.  Today we’ll hear from Eddie Gran and the offense, however, we will not hear from UK’s quarterbacks.  Terry Wilson, Gunnar Hoak and Danny Clark will only be available to the media on a limited basis throughout the preseason.

For some, reading is overrated.  For the visual learner, be sure you’re following UK football on Instagram.  Each day they update their Instagram story with videos from practice.  Some videos are just quick hitters during the team stretch, but once a day you’ll see something awesome.  Yesterday the Berezowitz brothers went heads up to decide who gets to lift (a.k.a. end their day) first.

Hard Knocks is Back

Before our televisions are filled with basketball, those with HBO will have football on the tube.  It appeared the NFL preseason reality show jumped the shark, but the Cleveland Browns are the perfect team to bring it back to awesomeness.

If that doesn’t float your boat, I have another HBO recommendation that’s technically secondhand information.  Lee Cruse has spent at least an hour of air time on The Funkhouser Situation praising The Hitman’s Bodyguard.  The praise is justified.  It’s one of the best action movies I’ve seen and it’s absolutely hilarious.

Checking in on Ohio State

Ezekiel Elliott’s father, Stacy, has become a face of this rally (@AriWasserman).

Well enough of that.  Back to basketball.

A Bahamas Preview

Before the Bahamas envy completely sets in, we have a couple ways to help you prepare for the UK games.  Mrs. Tyler and The OTT crew talk about what to expect in Atlantis, while Aaron Torres and Nick Coffey have an excellent preview the basketball action.  If you prefer a little more basketball recruiting talk, Hardly Committed has you covered.

KSR is LIVE from Atlantis

Bahamas Matt, Daniel Jeans, Luke Maye and Shannon the Dude will bring you two exciting hours of Kentucky Sports Radio beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Don’t miss it.

It makes me so proud to be part of the BBN when I see the guys do service projects like Samaritans Feet. Does anyone else remember when they ran out of socks/shoes and KAT gave a kid his?

Yes I remember that. I haven’t seen any other program teach kids to become young men like Cal does.
