92-year-old woman sneaks out of hospital to watch UK/UofL

Today’s fan of the day is Gladys Shirley Luck from Henderson, who was admitted to the hospital on Christmas Eve, but managed to sneak out on Saturday to watch the Kentucky/Louisville game.
Before you ask, she’s a die-hard Wildcats fan, and according to her family, convinced nurses to release her only to be taken back to the hospital on Sunday night. (Don’t worry, she’s getting better.) When she arrived back at the hospital, she apparently received a few “I told you so”s. Here’s the story from her great nephew Jeremy:
My 92 year-old great aunt Gladys was admitted to the hospital on Christmas Eve. While she is beginning to deteriorate a bit physically she is still 100% there mentally, as is evidenced by her desire to get back home to watch the Cats take on the Cards. She therefore convinced the hospital staff she was okay to go home (no small feat, since she was in a telemetry room, which is one step below the ICU) and proceeded to call her daughter to ask her to make sure her front door was open so the ambulance personnel could get her in her home quickly. Fortunately, she got a ride home from her daughter instead.
After witnessing the Cats prevail in their just and righteous cause, she unfortunately had to be readmitted on Sunday. However, her spirits are high and we hope she comes home soon.
As a hilarious postscript, she once called Derrick Jasper’s mother out of the blue once we knew he was transferring. Gladys is originally from the same hometown in California that the Jaspers are from. She just wanted her to know that she was a big fan of her son and wished him well as he transferred to UNLV. Apparently they had a lovely conversation.
You go, Gladys. Get well soon.
