5 of the Top 8 Basketball Recruiting Classes for 2020 are From the SEC

Keeping up with recruiting prowess of Kentucky, John Calipari, and his relentless coaching staff has proved to be a difficult task for the last decade now, but the rest of the SEC is doing it’s best to keep up.

According to 247Sports, five of the top eight recruiting classes for the 2020 class belong to SEC programs.

The ‘Cats control the top spot thanks to six elite-level recruits, highlighted by top-10 players Terrence Clarke and BJ Boston. Duke, North Carolina, and Michigan round out the top four with Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn completing the top-8.

Earlier on Sunday, Auburn signed four-star forward and one-time Kentucky prospect JT Thor, which allows them to jump in the standings. The Tigers are still in the race for No. 3 overall player in the 2020 class, Jalen Green. Four-star guard Justin Powell out of North Oldham in Louisville is also one of Bruce Pearl’s commits.

Alabama (16), Georgia (26), and Florida (28) rank among the classes top-30 teams while the Louisville Cardinals are ranked No. 25. There are still a few more options out there (for both UK and other SEC schools) that can help complete the 2020 class so this list has a chance to continue changing. But with the addition of Davion Mintz as a graduate transfer, it’ll be difficult for any team to overtake the ‘Cats and their loaded crew.

Having the number one recruiting class is great and all but if we don’t get a center this team won’t go anywhere.

Incredible that Will Wade is still coaching and recruiting at a high rate for LSU. Still hasn’t even been charged by the corrupt NCAA as run by the $4million man —- Mark Emmert.

Agreed it is egregious that Wade is still allowed to coach.. Honestly makes the NCAA look like a joke how long it takes them to punish any team.. They end up punishing players that had nothing to do with the offenses and let the guilty players continuing to play and get away with their infractions

If Nick did come back and we get Haarms could you imagine how hard it would be to take a clean shot down low.

It would sort a resemble how difficult it was back in 2015 when we hat KAT and WCS

SEC is recruiting much better and closing the gap. What scares me is those teams usually have experience.
