2018 five-star center Moses Brown ready to announce ‘real soon’

After five-star center Moses Brown finished with 21 points and six rebounds with John Calipari in attendance this afternoon, the 2018 prospect told Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com that he was about ready to make a final decision.

“I’m going to make a decision real soon,” he said.

The Kentucky coaching staff has been going back and forth on offering Brown a scholarship, and he said that was a big reason for him delaying his decision for so long.

“That really was my whole purpose in waiting it out, I just wanted to see how they played,” he said of the late decision. Now I’m pretty certain on what I’m about to do.”

When asked if the Wildcats were still in contention, Brown seemed hesitant, and then flat out said Kentucky wasn’t involved.

“I still have yet to take a visit to Kentucky and they haven’t offered me yet so,” he said.

Asked if they weren’t really involved, Brown said, “No.”

When is a decision expected?

“Maybe by the end of next month I should have committed,” he said.

With Coach Cal on hand, maybe he makes one last run at him to sway his decision by offering a scholarship. If not, is he that confident in Nick Richards and/or PJ Washington returning? Could he be banking on James Wiseman reclassifying to 2018?

Regardless, it sounds like Brown never quite showed enough to seal the deal for Calipari and the Kentucky coaching staff.

Next man up.

So Cal is there to see him but UK isn’t even in consideration. That article makes perfect sense….lol

Don’t be a smart ass. Cal was there to see 2019 Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antonie. He didn’t arrive to the Hoop Hall classic until halftime of the game Moses Brown was playing.

I’ll be whatever it is I want to be. Still doesn’t explain why Cal was specifically watching Brown when they know he’s awful and Brown knows UK isn’t offering. Cal was “specifically” watching Brown also, he was at his court watching him.

Okay be an idiot smartass, I don’t care. Cal builds relationships with teams, 2019 number 1 PG Cole Anthony is also on Moses Browns team. Obviously Cal is going to watch Moses play when he arrived because it was the game that was on. But in the end, he’s there for Scottie and Bryan. He’s not there for Brown.

Obviously cal and company don’t think he’s good enough to come and compete at UK or they would have offered him. Every year they offer guys who play a position where they may have a guy come back the next season. Sacha and wenyen didn’t stop them from offering Richards and Washington. Guys leave or they don’t. They offer who they think is capable of coming and competing right away, this kid must not be one of them.

Correct. It’s kinda funny when a novice poster thinks he knows more than Cal about evaluating high school prospects.

Richards isn’t leaving. Maybe Cal should recruit over him. He’s a waste so far.

Think Skal; nick will get drafted

Nick will get drafted next year. Skal’s offensive potential is what got him in the first round. Nick will be a lottery next year. Next years Big Man draft class is the weakest it’s been in a long time

Nick Richards is a freshman. Not every freshman is Anthony Davis or John Wall. Cal doesn’t offer a scholarship without a good reason. When a Kentucky fan labels a freshman with a Cal scholarship as a “waste”, that means the fan is a clueless novice.

The end of the article makes it sound as though we might lose out on Brown. What part of haven’t offered or been in contact is unclear? If that’s the case, then U.K. Lost out on me when I was in high school.

See your point. UK can’t lose out if the prospect doesn’t even have a UK scholarship offer.

Richards and Sasha will return next year along with Tai, Wenyen and Vanderbilt. We don’t need Brown at all since he isn’t going to be a one and done, especially with a loaded 2019 Big Man class. Brown isn’t going to UK

I’ve only seen a cpl highlight videos of brown and he will provide zero help next year unless he improves immensely over the summer. Very thin, slow feet, not very athletic. Prob has a chance to be a contributor in 3 yrs or so .

Well, at least rewriting the article makes it a bit more logical.
