Coach Cal was a fan boy in DC today

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 2.39.15 PM

For a man who normally keeps it cooler than polar bear feet, Coach Cal appeared to be a fan boy in Washington D.C. this morning.

Maybe he forgot Anthony Davis’ advice: “Don’t geek.”

Because he definitely geeked today.

On Twitter, Cal called his trip to see Prop Francis one of the highlights of his entire life.

“Believe me, I would have taken a whole bunch of pictures if they would have let me bring my phone inside. LOL,” he tweeted after the visit.

During a SportsCenter interview earlier this afternoon, Cal told ESPN’s David Lloyd, “I’m on my way to a recruit…but he had to wait for the Pope!”

Unfortunately, Cal did not get to meet Pope Francis or kiss the ring. The closest he got was the balcony where the Pope stood during his speech. Speaker John Boehner invited him up shortly after the Pope addressed the joint session.

It still looked like he had a good time because I’m not sure we’ve ever seen him so excited about anything. The NBA Draft included.

September has been a good month for John Calipari.

To follow logic, this should put Kifin in line for an NFL head coaching job, maybe the Cowboys.

Im originally from the West Chester Ohio area, there are legendary stories about how big a drunk John Boehner is. I hope he was sober when he met the pope!

I wouldn’t trade CCal for anyone, but myself, I prefer to go straight to God. No need for any middle man. We have one in Heaven, named Jesus Christ, and HE doesn’t need anyone down here to do His job for Him. I prefer Christianity, where I don’t have to check my brain in at the door, before into in. Might oughta try to reconcile Catholicism with the Bible some time?! It’s not exactly a close fit.

Well, considering that Protestantism is an off-shoot of Catholicism (and both are Christianity, btw), your analysis is obviously spot on. I’m not Catholic, but Catholicism does follow the Bible, perhaps not by your interpretation. And you sort of contradict yourself by saying you don’t need a middle-man…Jesus is a middle-man, so to speak. I’m sure you end your prayers with something along the lines of “in Jesus’ name.” Middle man.

Regardless, I’m surprised it only took 7 posts for this to turn into a religious discussion. I couldn’t care less what Calipari’s religious views are.

Mr. MustangCat, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Peter, the Rock upon whom the Church was built, was the first Pope.

What mustang cat was referring to is the practicing of the confession booth with a catholic priest. In christianity you can confess your own sins and ask for forgiveness instead of having a priest be the middle man and asking god to forgive you.

      Even this belief is Biblical…

This sacrament is rooted in the mission God gave to Christ in his capacity as the Son of man on earth to go and forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowds who witnessed this new power “glorified God, who had given such authority to men” (Matt. 9:8; note the plural “men”). After his resurrection, Jesus passed on his mission to forgive sins to his ministers, telling them, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. . . . Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:21—23).

Oh, I “understood” what he was “trying” to say.

I get it. And I’m an idiot.

However, I still stand by my previous comment…..

There is nothing in catholicism that is Christian, period. Not baptism prayer, head of the church, forbidding to marry, traditions, catechism and the list goes on plus they don’t use the Bible.

I do like this Pope because he is trying to do good.

I thought we had the real Pope Francis, not a prop. There sure was a lot of disruptions to getting around town for only a Prop. Sigh.
