Your Final Draft Prediction and Rumor Post…

…until there are more rumors in 20 minutes.

1.  The Possibility of Enes at #2 – What finished Wednesday as the draft’s hottest rumor now seems to be a smokescreen according to a couple of experts.  Both ESPN’s Chad Ford and Draft Express’ Jonathon Givony believe Minnesota to be bluffing with their repeated statements that they’re taking Kanter.  They both have the Wolves taking Derrick Williams.  Sam Amico of Fox Sports, however, believes them to be genuine and has Enes off the board at the second spot.

2.  Enes and the Jazz – This seems to be today’s hot buzz.  Ford and Givony both have Utah taking Enes with the third pick, citing a phenomenal workout yesterday and a great interview.  Utah is said to be trying to move Al Jefferson, which would allow Enes to line up with last year’s third overall pick, Derrick Favors, in a frontcourt that seems to be very complementary and potentially imposing.

3.  Brandon Knight and the Raptors – This pains me in the deepest part of my heart.  It now appears  – based on the rumors of the day – that Cleveland will not pull the trigger on Knight at the #4 spot, leaving him to fall into the Raptors’ lap at #5.  For Toronto, this is a big time win.  It’s been said for several weeks that the Raptors want Knight more than any other prospect in the 3-10 range and this would work out exactly as it hoped.  For Knight, he’d be a Raptor.  You make of that what you like.

We would never see the Knight in Toronto…They are never on TV.

    3. What about Utah? Obviously Cleveland won’t take Irving AND Knight. That would just be stupid when they already have Baron Davis.

Doug Gottlieb proves again he knows nothing about basketball… Picks Knight to fall to 7 to the Kings. Would be freaking awesome, but I literally think he said it just to be different. There’s no way from every draft board I’ve seen he falls past the Raptors.

Cleveland and Minnesota are never on TV either, and I’m sorry but Toronto is a much cooler city than Salt Lake City. I would love to see Knight in Toronto.

If I were the Cavs I would take Williams at #1 and Knight at #4. The Jazz move up a spot and draft Irving at #2 and Kanter goes to Utah at #3. If the Cavs take Irving, then Williams and Kanter will be gone #2 and #3 and they don’t have a solid #4 pick to choose from.

Cleveland is gonna screw this up…they would be better served taking Kanter #1, and then taking Knight #4, and that’s not just UK bias talking. As somebody who works in college basketball and knows this game–Derrick Williams has the career arc of Glenn Robinson at best…although everybody is banking on him being Blake Griffin with a bit more range. As for Kyrie Irving, I don’t see his abilities as that much superior to Knight’s, with Knight being the better shooter. Cleveland needs to ere on the side of caution and go Kanter, Knight.

10 years from today, people will really question the teams that pass on Knight and Kanter!

I agree. Cleveland will screw it up, they will continue their tradition of terrible draft picks. They will go extremely “safe” and take Irving #1 and hope to get Kanter at #4 but he will be gone and they will take the guy that won’t be able to play for two years. Or they will trade down at 4 and muck it up even worse.

I think Knight in Toronto is actually a pretty decent fit. He can play alongside or behind Jose Calderon who could definitely teach Knight a few things about passing but Knight is a much better scorer. He’ll for sure be their PG of the future and probably get a lot of minutes this year. DeMar DeRozan will be fun to watch with Knight drawing more of the defense than Calderon does since he can’t shoot for shit.

    9. have you ever watched the raptors play?? Calderon is a career 38% 3pt shooter. having had a season as high as 42.9%. Knight is definitely the superior player here long term but to say Jose cant shoot for shit is ridiculous. he’s no Rondo.

    Knight @ 3 (Jazz)

Kanter @ 4 (Wizards sell their soul and make the trade up 2 spots)

    Liggins @ 58 (Lakers)

Jorts…Unsigned (hoping he goes 60th though)

Ever since Bird has been with the Pacer organization it’s been one cluster screw up after another. Last year they were in dire need to get a good forward, then passed on PP to take George. This year will fair no better. Hell knowing how he drafts he’ll probably dig up Wilt and draft him.

Would suck to see any UK guy go to Toronto. They pay higher taxes and NBA players hate it. Salaries should be higher for players that have to go to the Raptors.

It’ll take Brandon exactly 3 days to master French.

Cleaveland would be stupid to take Irving. He is no Magic Johnson.

They could select Williams or Kanter at #1, and have the choice at #4 of Brandon Knight or Kimba Walker. One of the two will be there, both decent PG prospects.

Bet they go with Irving though.

#4 – Yes, Toronto is a very cool city.
#15 – You’re probably right but last time I checked Toronto is not in Quebec so he won’t need much French
#1 – You’re right, if BK goes there we may never hear his name again

16–I agree. Of the top three point guard prospects, it’s anybody’s guess who will turn out best. But Williams and Kanter seem clearly the best at their respective positions. Cleveland should take either Williams or Kanter at one, and their favorite remaining point at 4.

Cleveland will take Kyrie #1. I’d say that’s pretty much a lock.
I don’t see Utah passing on Knight. They need a PG too much. If Utah takes Kanter, Cleveland will take that Jonas guy from Europe. Cavs won’t have him next year, will suck again, and get another top pick in 2012, plus, will be able to trade Baron Davis expiring contract that year as well.
The following year, if they all pan out, cavs will be very good.

Personally, I say any team that needs a true point guard needs to pass on Knight. Maybe with enough playing time, he can work on that passing thing.

Also I dont understand the questioning of Kanter just because he didnt play in college. There were a lot of players that went straight to NBA and so long as the talent level was there, experience didnt matter. If college experience is a factor, then Irving should not be the projected number 1.

Honestly, Toronto is a better option than Cleveland. Dwane Casey is the new head coach and Knight will be a perfect fit for them. I hope Canter goes to Washington, but likely Utah takes him 3rd.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet…what’s up with the picture of former Card Samaki Walker on this post? Couldn’t you use a draft day picture of a former Cat? Wall, Cousins, anyone? I’m disappointed.
