Clinton was impeached for perjury. That’s all I knew about that. It was a big deal, he was impeached, and ended up coming out of it OK, all told.

However I CAN tell you about walk-ons from obscure UK teams. And in the end, that’s what’s REALLY important here.

I know nobody will want to hear this but, if the SEC expands to 16, why is U of L not being even mentioned as a West team addition? They would be competitive in basketball in and probably be the favorite in the west every year, and would be a middle of the road team in football. It would be a natural rival team to Kentucky, the most northern team in the SEC and would probably be the easiest draw to get into the SEC. Then you just need two east teams, like WVU or VT, Clemsno or GT. Just curious on everyones thoughts.

Thanks 52, and 62 I agree, no new tv market, but in all honesty, I don’t care about the tv market. My thoughts are, in this, what does it do to benefit 1.) Kentucky and 2.) SEC. Kentucky first, U of L to the SEC makes the rivalry even bigger. It gives UK another automatic win in football and basketball (in most years). SEC, it is an easy target to bring in to the west with aTm. No person could tell me that if offered UofL wouldn’t JUMP at the opportunity to join. And in all reality, it does add a new market. It adds northwestern Kentucky and Southern Indiana as a fanbase. Make no bones about it, I HATE Louisville. But they make sense in this and only this instance.

Just a football thought…all the people ready to throw Joker under the bus are incorrect…After some thought, our problem is pretty much on the Offensive side of the ball, we made the change on Defense with Minter…maybe it is time to make a change with regard to Sanders. Think about it, we can not line up and play smash mouth with the SEC..so we need to be unorthodox to say the least…with coaches like Leach and Rich Rod out there needing jobs, wouldnt it be smart to look for a more up tempo, willing to open it up coach..letting Joker run the show, T and Joker do the recruiting, Minter run the defense (Brown needs to go..) and the OC (Leach or Rich Rod, etc) run the offense….sounds like it would be entertaing and competitive…we aint never gonna win the SEC most likely, but 9-3 or 8-4 could be possible!

I can’t wait for the UNC/UK game at Rupp this year. The most electric atmosphere I’ve ever seen at UK was when Florida came in ranked number 1 for the first time, back in the Walsh days. As a student in the e-Rupption zone it was crazy. We dominated and put them back in their place. Something tells me the atmosphere will be 2x that this year for the UNC game.

Rupp rocks for big games but the problem is the season ticket holders get so used to being there that they don’t get up for teams we should beat. We need new ideas for how to make the cup-cake games exciting.

We need at least three levels in a new arena. Ring the floor with the students, then have a section higher than that for the “money people” to sit and see over the standing students and then an upper area for us common folks. Of course that’s not counting luxury boxes and such.

OK, so what I’m hearing is that maybe UK should get out of the SEC. We’re NOT a football school, and per you Matt, we will NEVER win 7-8 games each year. The SEC is NOT a basketball conference, and that is what UK is all about right? So flip the thought, why should UK stay in the SEC(a football first conference) when we’re always going to be the doormat, and IMO any expansion is bad for UK football.

  107. BigBlueBrock
    11:50 am September 7, 2011 Permalink

103 – Be that as it may, imagine telling 3,000 upper arena ticket holders that their seats will be gone in favor of suites for the high rollers.

Simple fact is this: It doesn’t matter how much grinding and gnashing of teeth the arena committee or city people or fans do about KEEPING RUPP ARENA. It ain’t gonna happen. PERIOD. There will be a new arena by the time UK’s lease with Rupp is up. It’s that simple.
