Young Studs Visit Kentucky

As the John Lucas Basketball camp took place in Louisville, Kentucky this weekend, some of the top talent in the country from the class of 2012, 2013 and 2014 were in town. Big names such as Baylor commit Isaiah Austin ’12, who Kentucky offered, as well as, the top 2014 big man, Dakari Johnson were in attendance.

While most players decided to focus on the camp rather than take in the Bluegrass state, four standout players from the class of 2012 and 2013 went to Kentucky for unofficial visits.

Jabari Parker, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Illinois, was the most notable player to visit Lexington this weekend. A top-10 player in the class of 2013, Parker is a hot commodity. He has offers from Baylor, BYU, DePaul, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nevada, Northwestern, Oregon State, Purdue, Pittsburgh, Providence, Washington and more. While Kentucky has not offered yet, they will likely make that move in the next year.

Duane Wilson, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Wisconsin, was another visitor this weekend. The quick guard visited DePaul two weekends ago, has offers from the Blue Demons, Indiana State and Marquette. Wilson is a top-50 player in the class of 2013.

Arroyo Edwards, a 6-foot-5 forward from Wisconsin, plays on the same AAU team as Wilson but is a year older. He visited DePaul two weeks ago, as well. Edwards is being targeted by the Blue Demons, as well as Texas, Baylor, Wisconsin and Milwaulke. Edwards is a top-100 player in the class of 2012.

Cinmeon Bowers, a 6-foot-7 forward from Wisconsin, is the teammate of Edwards with Playground Elite of Wisconsin. Bowers was rumored to have committed to Maryland a few months back, but it was a false statement. Cinmeon is being looked at by DePaul, Texas, Miami, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, Tennessee, Michigan and Minnesota, along with the Terps. He is another top-100 player in the class of 2012.

Despite not attending the event, or being in Kentucky for that matter, Rodney Purvis, a 6-foot-3 guard from North Carolina, picked up an offer from Duke. Purvis received the offer from Coach K about seven hours after taking an unofficial visit. The sophomore is being looked at by almost every school. Kentucky has not offered yet but seems to be in his top three along with the Blue Devils and North Carolina.
