What you see above is the crowd at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium FIVE MINUTES BEFORE KICKOFF of their game last Saturday against South Florida. A game which would have made them bowl eligible for the first time in 4 seasons. A game which took place during one of the nicest weather days of the year. A game coming off a program turnaround win over Syracuse.
And I would estimate that in the LOWER BOWL of the stadium, that is maybe 1/3 full just 5 minutes before kickoff. And this is a program that just EXPANDED their stadium. Maybe they should have instead invested in some of those tarps to cover up the empty seats like they do in the NFL.
You have to give it to Kentucky fans. Nobody is saying that Commonwealth is full every weekend, but I have NEVER seen Commonwealth that empty, especially in the lower section. And we have had MUCH worse football teams over the years than Louisville.
And that is why they are Little Brother.
